About the role:

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who understands the value that youth work, sport and positive activities can add to people and their communities. The role of the Youth Worker will be an important addition to the London team and provide programme support to ensure that young people who are engaged in these programmes are supported.

The role of the Youth Worker plays an important role in the planning and delivery of weekly sessions to ensure they are needs led and are supporting the young people who are engaged to achieve their outcomes. The Youth Worker will play a crucial role by supporting the wider team when required to deliver sessions, support with administrative tasks and build relationships with community partners to ensure the young people have access to as many opportunities as possible.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Develop relationships and communication channels with young people.
  • To support with the delivery of ACN youth programmes in London.
  • To support the wider staff team in the development and execution of session plans to include workshops and sessions that are needs led to aid with improving young people’s knowledge and understanding of relevant issues e.g. sexual health, employability and mental health etc.
  • To support the recruitment and engagement of young people to ACN programmes.
  • To build positive working relationships with youth workers and community partners to achieve the best outcomes for young people on all programmes.
  • Manage groups of young people and be responsible for their care, safeguarding them whilst they are participating in activities.
  • Promote and encourage empowerment within all sessions.
  • To support the wider team with programme related administration completing relevant documentation and ensuring it is accurate including updating our monitoring and evaluation system.
  • To work with the wider team to evaluate and record the impact of sessions and workshops that are being delivered.
  • Promote volunteering and engage with young people to take part in opportunities.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work flexibly where appropriate on evenings, weekends and during school holidays to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme.
  • Undertake training in order to develop work related skills and knowledge.
  • Undertake any other related responsibilities commensurate with the evolving objectives of the post and the evolution of the organisation.
  • Work with due regard for ACN core values and objectives.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of, and adherence to ACN’s Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Essential experience / knowledge:

Qualifications:

Essential

  • A minimum of a Level 1 recognised national coaching badge in any sporting field.
  • A minimum of a Level 1 accredited youth work qualification

Experience / Knowledge:

Essential

  • Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience of youth work or community coaching in employment or in a voluntary capacity.
  • Experience of working in a team to achieve a shared goal.

NB: Criteria may be enhanced to assist with shortlisting.
