Teaching Assistant 1:1 SEND

Wells Cathedral School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a pupil currently in Year 8.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, within a structured framework of supervision, to implement tailored learning programmes for the pupil within the classroom setting. Key responsibilities will include supporting the development and ongoing review of personal learning plans, maintaining effective monitoring systems, and engaging in continuous professional development.

A willingness to undertake additional training relevant to the support role is essential. A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015), the Disability Discrimination Act (1995), and the Equality Act (2010) is also expected.

Essential qualifications and experience include:
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE grade 4/C or above / NVQ Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant training and/or experience in literacy and numeracy strategies, or in specific learning areas such as dyslexia, ICT, Maths, or English
