This role is hybrid, working from home and our office based in London Bridge
(an average 1 day a week office-based).

Job Purpose
The finance team is a critical team at Eve. The role works with all parts of the charity to support
our life-saving work in cancer prevention. The Finance Officer is responsible for processing all
income and raising invoices. The charity depends on our incredible donors, supporters and
partners and first-class stewardship is vital. This role is central to supporting our programmes and
fundraising teams delivering to the highest standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Processing Income
•

Coding and entering income onto our database, Raiser’s Edge NXT, from a variety of sources
including cash, direct deposits and donations through third party platforms.
Accurately, liaising with the wider fundraising team to ensure income is coded correctly and
promptly.
Banking all cash and cheques weekly.

Purchase ledger

Process purchase ledger invoices on the accounts system, Sage 50 Accounts.
Electronic filing of all invoices, credit notes and remittances.
Processing staff expenses.
Process credit card reports and reconcile on monthly basis.
Reconcile suppliers statements.
Prepare BACS payment runs which take place mid and end of month.

Payroll and Pension

Prepare monthly payroll for checks before it is shared with the payroll bureau.
Prepared BACS for payroll and payments to HMRC.
Set up pension Direct Debit.

Database Management
•

Ensuring that duplicate records are not created, all data is ‘clean’ and is removed as and
when necessary according to our data protection policies.
Ensuring Gift Aid statements are correctly recorded on Raiser’s Edge NXT.
Running weekly and monthly checks via dashboards to ensure that income is correctly
coded.
Run weekly checks on supporters who have unsubscribed from our emails and update
Raisers Edge NXT.

Month end
•

Support the Head of Finance with the month end reconciliations including:

•  Bank Reconciliations
•  Prepayments and Accruals
•  Restricted Funds Reconciliations

•  Fixed Assets

Income Reconciliations (to Raiser’s Edge NXT)

Supporting Finance and Governance
•
•

To support the Head of Finance with the preparation for our annual audit.
To support all members of The Eve Appeal team on an ad-hoc basis as and when required.

Supporting the Wider Team
•

To support the Fundraising team with monitoring the office inbox - forwarding enquiries to
the relevant member of staff.
To answer the office phone and respond to general enquires, forwarding to the relevant
member of staff.
To assist the Fundraising team with data entry on Raiser Edge NXT for events.
Attend occasional out-of-hours events on behalf of The Eve Appeal (time off in lieu will be
given).

Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Previous experience in a finance role in a fundraising organisation.
Confident communicator (telephone, email, online and in-person meetings).
Highly numerate.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong time management skills.
A pro-active “can do” attitude.
Excellent IT skills – including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Ability to work under pressure in a a busy charity with a range of fundraising
programmes utilising different donation platforms.

AAT or Part Qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
Experience using Sage Cloud 50.
Experience of using Raiser’s Edge NXT or another fundraising database
