Senior Animal Behaviourist – Bristol Animal Rescue Centre

Bristol Animal Rescue Centre is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Senior Animal Behaviourist to join our dedicated team. This is a pivotal role within our organisation, supporting the rehabilitation and rehoming of animals through expert behavioural care and leadership.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be an accredited Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB)withCCAB Certification Ltd
  • Be registered as a Clinical Animal Behaviouristwith theAnimal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC)
  • Have achieved CCAB Pre-Certification status
  • Hold qualifications and demonstrable clinical experiencein animal behaviour and welfare that areequivalent in standard

Applicants must also:

  • Have a proven track record of working directly with the public in a professional setting
  • Be capable of presenting and applying evidence-based research in the field of animal behaviour and welfare
  • Possess experience in the practical application of behavioural assessment, training, and rehabilitation techniques

About the Role

We currently care for up to 45 dogs, 40 cats, and a variety of small animals, all with unique behavioural and emotional needs. You will lead our existing behaviour team, which includes a Behaviour Coordinator, Canine Intake Supervisor, and Animal Behaviour Assistant.

As Senior Animal Behaviourist, you will:

  • Line-manage the behaviour team
  • Develop and oversee tailored behavioural rehabilitation and training programmes
  • Ensure timely and accurate behavioural assessments
  • Support the efficient and successful rehoming of all animals in our care
  • Work closely with our veterinary team in supporting complex behaviour cases.

This is a demanding but rewarding role that requires both leadership and hands-on experience in a busy rescue environment.
