At Skills and Education Group, we are passionate about the advancement of skills and education to improve the lives of individuals. We provide regulated qualifications, funding opportunities and professional development programmes to further education and skills providers – and much more.

Who we are

Following a period of renewal, we are focused on delivering financial sustainability, high-quality products & services, governance reform, and a clearer, more effective group structure.

We are rebuilding an inclusive, high-performing culture that reflects our values - ambition, people-first, and solution-focused - and places quality and integrity at the heart of our offer.

About the role

The Director of Qualifications, Assessment & Regulation is a strategic leadership role at the heart of the Skills and Education Group’s mission to deliver high-quality, future-ready qualifications and services. With oversight of product development, assessment innovation, and regulatory compliance, the postholder will shape our portfolio in line with national skills policy, drive transformation, and embed excellence across our federated awarding organisations.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with senior leaders, you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver a commercially sustainable, digitally confident, and values-led portfolio. You’ll lead a full portfolio review, ensure we champion innovation into qualification and assessment design, and use your insight into the changing policy landscape to drive new product developments. All the while ensuring compliance across multiple regulatory frameworks, including Ofqual and QAA.

This is a role for a visionary leader who can balance strategic ambition with operational rigour, foster inclusive and high-performing teams, and position the Group as a trusted and influential force in technical and vocational education.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader with deep expertise in vocational and technical education, and a strong track record in qualification development, assessment strategy, and regulatory compliance with Ofqual, and ideally QAA.

You’ll bring commercial acumen, political awareness, and digital fluency - able to embed emerging technologies into product and assessment design to enhance learner outcomes and market relevance. Your ambassadorial skills will be key in building trusted relationships with regulators, industry partners, and education providers.

You will be confident navigating complex regulatory environments and leading transformation programmes that align with strategic priorities. With a collaborative mindset and inclusive leadership style, you will empower teams, advise senior stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across the Group.

Above all, you’ll share our belief in the power of education to improve lives and bring the insight, integrity, and strategic clarity needed to shape the future of qualifications and assessment.
