Job Description:  Bi-lingual Play, Learn, Grow Co-ordinator

Hours of Work: 20 hours/week
Contract:  Fixed to June 2026, further continuation subject to funding
Salary: NJC 12 – 20 (Currently £28,598 - £32,597) Pro Rata, based on FTH of 36/wk
Base: Hybrid - Primarily community based in Oldham, with some office working at Ryecroft Hall
and some home-based working. May occasionally include travel across other Host geographical
areas.

Purposes of the job
Play, Learn, Grow is Home-Start HOST’s 8-week programme for children aged 2 to 5 years which
helps to support parents to support the learning and development of their children through play.

The Bi-Lingual Play, Learn, Grow Co-ordinator ensures the provision of high-quality support to
designated families in Oldham’s communities through delivering online and in-person groups and
through home visits.  The co-ordinator works with trained volunteers as appropriate and operates
in accordance with HOST’s Strategic Plan, legal obligations and the organisation’s Governing
Document and Quality Assurance Standards to deliver services, engaging with external partners as
appropriate. The post holder helps provide good safeguarding practice and ensures that families
and volunteers receive the highest quality of timely support.

Main Responsibilities

•  Deliver a programme of ‘Play, Learn, Grow’ sessions through groups and home visits to
stimulate the learning and development of children aged 2 to 5 years in Oldham.
•  Ensure the Play, Learn, Grow programme is accessible to families from within Oldham

communities who have English as a second or additional language.

•  Promote Play, Learn, Grow to families and referrers using a variety of referral pathways

and promoting self-referrals.

•  Conduct assessments of children and parents using a range of pre- and post- outcome

measures.

•  Understand family perceptions and opinions of service and recommend changes to

services and processes as appropriate.

•  Apply effective and timely administration, review and monitoring of service delivery,

including self-managing and applying relevant record keeping systems and data entry.
•  Recruit sufficient volunteers to support the home visiting side of the work by pro-actively

promoting volunteering opportunities and assessing potential volunteers.
•  Deliver high quality volunteer training to prospective volunteers as required.
•  Supervise and support Play, Learn, Grow volunteers regularly and provide constructive

feedback and engagement.

•  Engage with any multi-agency work for families as needed.
•  Promote HOST externally by ensuring appropriate liaison, networking and communication

with referrers, professionals, community leaders and organization.

•  Undertake  any  other  duties  that  may  be  required  to  discharge  the  role  and  support  the

organization.

ESSENTIAL
Language Skills
Fluent in at least one other language used commonly in Oldham i.e. Urdu or
Bengali
Education and training
Qualified to NVQ 3 level/equivalent or above in relevant subject, e.g education,
childcare, and or related training or equivalent experience
