Shop Managerto lead our charity shop, maximising sales and delivering outstanding customer service while supporting the vital work of the St Vincent de Paul Society.About the RoleAs Shop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop, driving sales and income through excellent merchandising, community engagement, and effective team leadership. You’ll recruit, train, and manage volunteers and staff, ensuring our shop is a welcoming, vibrant space for customers and donors alike.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve income targets through shop sales, Gift Aid, donations, recycling, and online selling.
- Maximise Gift Aid and ensure all donors are asked to Gift Aid their donations.
- Maintain high standards of stock quality, merchandising, and shop presentation.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers and staff, fostering a positive team culture.
- Engage with the local community to increase donations, sales, and volunteer numbers.
- Manage shop finances, cash handling, and adhere to all SVP policies and procedures.
- Create engaging content for the shop’s social media channels.
- Ensure first-class customer service and resolve customer queries or complaints.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all.
- Previous retail management experience (charity retail experience desirable).
- Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
- Strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proactive, creative, and able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the shop and community.
- Good IT skills, with a willingness to engage with online selling and social media.
- Empathy with the ethos and values of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
