Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: NCC East, Bircham Newton (Norfolk) – This is an onsite role, 5 days per week
Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4:45pm and Friday 8am to 11am
Contract: Permanent
Grade: TM3
Target Salary: £35,180 per annum
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting learners by:
- Supporting learners with additional support needs to achieve their apprenticeship
- Establishing individual learner support needs
- Reinforcing lesson content through individual 1-2-1 support and group support
- Liaising with the Curriculum Team to assist in the development and planning of lessons and learning materials
- Preparing resources and co-delivering lessons alongside lecturers/instructors
- Using assessment results and prior learning to tailor support to individual learner needs
- Providing high-quality verbal and written feedback to learners
- Monitoring learner progress using recognised IT platforms and CITB’s Learner Management System
- Supporting learners to develop personal, English, maths, and digital skills
- Contributing to progress reviews and learning support processes
- Offering career advice and guidance to learners
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Demonstrating positive behaviours and attitudes to learners and colleagues
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Experience supporting learners with additional needs in an educational setting
- English and maths qualifications at Level 2 or above
- Educated to Level 3 or above
- Excellent IT skills, including Office 365 (Word and Excel)
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 teaching qualification (within 9 months)
- Confidence in advising and challenging on learning support matters
- Ability to motivate and support learners to overcome barriers
- Organised, efficient, and able to manage your own workload
- Strong team player with excellent organisational skills
Desirable:
- Level 5 teaching qualification
- Assessor Awards
- Degree-level education
- Experience in apprenticeship delivery
- Knowledge of learning support funding requirements
- Coaching and/or mentoring qualification
