About the role
Occupational therapy at National Star plays a key role in supporting young adult learners who have complex physical and learning disabilities to achieve their goals of independence and progress within their educational outcomes. Most of our students participate in a 3-year education program, giving us the opportunity to build strong relationships, complete a variety of assessments and deliver intervention programmes that enable our young people to make real progress and gain a real sense of achievement.
You will help a senior Occupational Therapist to assess and then provide therapy for students with a variety of physical and/or learning disabilities. This would include:
* taking part in formal learning sessions working with tutors and learners to ensure occupational therapy approaches are used to develop growing independence.
* assessing learning environments to ensure they are safe for students and using various items of adapted equipment to provide the maximum opportunity for them to learn and develop.
* maintaining individual therapy notes and electronic records of work so that we can understand the progress being made by students
* liaising with students, families, other health care professionals, care and learning programmes staff regarding interventions and management issues for the care of the students
This role will be based at our college in Ullenwood on the outskirts of Cheltenham – transport can be provided from central Cheltenham / Gloucester.
