Job Vacancy at Women’s Community Matters

Volunteer

Our clients and staff need you!

We need volunteers at our Centre to support our staff and clients in our essential work. Since we first opened in 2013, volunteers have been the backbone of our service. without them we couldn’t survive! They have made the Centre what it is today and we would love if you could become a part of our journey.

Women’s Community Matters offer a variety of one-to-one support, courses, activities, support groups and access to specialist services for vulnerable women and girls aged 11 and over, and to young men/boys aged 11-19. We deliver our services with love, care, compassion, and kindness and offer a safe space in which women and young people can make their own decisions about changes they want to make in their own lives.

You can volunteer as little or as often as you would like, just let us know at your induction what your availability is. We also encourage people to volunteer to organise events at the Centre so if this is something you excel in, please apply.

Volunteer roles

All of these roles are essential to the Centre. We want to show women how much they are worth, how much we care about them, and how we will continue to treat them with love, care, compassion and kindness. So even though cleaning drinks stations, for example, may not seem like a vital job, it definitely is. It shows our clients that we value them and want them to have a nice cup of tea, from a clean mug, with fresh milk and hot water. These ‘small’ tasks contribute to our bigger goal, showing women that they are enough, they are valued and are loved.

The roles we have are:

  • General Housekeeping
  • Clothes Bank
  • Drop-In (drop-in sessions for clients to come for a coffee and catch-up)
  • Food Service Assistant
  • Group Support/ Peer Mentor
  • Centre Support
  • Pause, for Thought (young women’s group)
  • Time, for Thought (young men’s group)

If you would like a detailed description of each role, please ask at Reception or email volunteer@womenscommunitymatters.org

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at our Centre, please email volunteer@womenscommunitymatters.org or call 01229 311102 and ask for Gracie or Michaela
