Bank Support Worker (Maryvale Young Parents’ Accommodation) Caritas Diocese of Salford (‘Caritas Salford’) is the principal social action agency of the Catholic Diocese of Salford. April 2025 POST TITLE: LOCATION: JOB DESCRIPTION Bank Support Worker (Maryvale Young Parents’ Accommodation) Maryvale Young Parents’ Accommodation, 8-10 Rydal Road, Blackburn, BB1 5NR HOURS OF DUTY: GRADE: SALARY: Bank Staff shifts – 7:30am - 15:00pm 14:30pm - 22:00pm 21:30pm – 8:00am (waking nights) Bank staff need to be able to cover days, nights and weekend shifts RESPONSIBLE TO: Young Parents’ Accommodation Manager RESPONSIBLE FOR: Residents Fixed Point 6 £12.72 per hour (plus accrued holiday pay) MAIN CONTACTS: Internal Accommodation Staff Residents of the accommodation (young parents’ and their babies) External Children’s Services Staff Benefits Agency Staff GPs, Health Visitors and other Health Professionals Housing Department Staff Residents’ partners and family Education/Training Providers Courts and Legal Professionals Other statutory/voluntary/advisory organisations MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST: To assist in the smooth running of the house including ensuring that we: Provide excellent customer service and work with the young parents in a strengths- based way through a coproduction process to help them achieve their goals. Provide a high standard of housing management that delivers a safe environment for young parents and their babies. Support the young parents to look after the health and development of themselves and their babies, working positively with other professionals. Prepare and support the young parents to move into their own independent tenancies. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check required Available to work days, nights and weekend shifts at the accommodation Flexibility to ensure service need is met April 2025 BANK SUPPORT WORKER (MARYVALE YOUNG PARENTS’ ACCOMMODATION) JOB DESCRIPTION MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support 1. To organise and facilitate group work sessions to help promote skills and wellbeing. 2. To support the young parents in the development of independent living skills in line with their support plan, e.g. maintenance of tenancy, budgeting, household, and domestic duties, and to promote safe and confident parenting. 3. To promote information sharing and multi-agency working through liaison with a variety of agencies such as Social Workers, health care professionals, Benefits Agency, Housing Department staff and other agencies. Housing Management To provide high-quality housing management including: 4. Ensuring the safety and security of the building, including monitoring CCTV, setting alarms and carrying out regular supervisory rounds of the building. 5. Ensuring that the common areas of the building are clean, safe, and non-hazardous. Reporting repairs and maintaining maintenance records etc. 6. Carrying out room checks and preparing rooms that have been vacated to be re-let. 7. Participate in fire drills, fire safety inspections and health and safety inspections. 8. Advising and assisting residents in dealing with Housing Benefit claims during sign up process and throughout their tenancy. 9. Advice on rent arrears and setting up and monitoring repayment plans. 10. Dealing with abandonment, anti-social behaviour, and related issues, including serving notice where this is unavoidable. 11. Assisting with resident consultations and coproduction work. General 12. To deliver agreed outcomes and achieve targets set by the Young Parents’ Accommodation Manager. 13. To maintain accurate records using our database and other IT and paper-based systems. April 2025 14. To ensure that all records are completed in respect of events occurring during time on duty and to provide accurate handovers to colleagues. 15. To undertake mandatory online training and to participate in other training and staff development activities and to be actively involved in staff meetings. 16. To be alert to possible safeguarding issues and to raise safeguarding concerns where appropriate. 17. To log information for day staff and provide a detailed handover. 18. To work within all relevant policies and procedures for employees of Caritas. 19. To work in a way that promotes equity, inclusion and diversity. 20.
