BECOMING A CHARITY TRUSTEE? Blythe House Hospice is looking for new Trustees to help deliver its mission of providing high quality care across North Derbyshire. We are currently interested in people who have a background in Business, Accountancy/Finance, or Marketing and Communications. WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A TRUSTEE? Trustees are volunteers who are vital to the running of the charity. Trustees help to shape the future strategy of the Hospice as well as make sure that it is meeting its charitable objectives and is run sustainably. Trustees scrutinise and support the operational arm of the Hospice to deliver its mission. HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO GIVE? Blythe House Hospice has a quarterly reporting cycle. Each quarter you would need to attend one afternoon for sub-committee meetings and one evening for a full board meeting. Each meeting will have papers and reports that are shared in advance for you to read. Further to this, there is our annual general meeting, and two development days each year. Occasionally matters arise that need attention outside of the normal board cycle. These are predominately managed by email. In addition to this there are opportunities to promote and support the Hospice at events across the year. DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE AS A TRUSTEE? No, experience is not required. We are looking for people who are passionate about their local community, recognise the value that Blythe House Hospice brings and want to use their experience, knowledge and skills to further the work of the Hospice. HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION OR APPLY TO BE A TRUSTEE? If you are interested in becoming a Trustee, please contact Shane O’Reilly, Blythe House Hospice CEO, at shane.oreilly@blythehouse.co.uk.
