Age UK Isle of Wight is a local, independent registered charity that provides support to Islanders aged 50+ and their families. We aim to promote the wellbeing, resilience, and independence of older people, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. To achieve this, we offer a range of information, advice, and home support services, both directly and in partnership with other organisations. We offer our employees a generous holiday entitlement, shop and gym membership discounts and (post-qualifying period) healthcare benefits.
ABOUT THE ROLE: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of older adults? At Age UK Isle of Wight, we are looking for a dynamic individual to support our Information & Advice (I&A), Just About You (JAY), and Volunteer services!
The Central Services Team (CST) support our largest portion of registered clients across the charity. This team consists of three core services to AUKIW; Information and Signposting (I&S), Just About You: Home Help (JAY), and Volunteer Befriending. Each of these services deliver the day-to-day of the role, but with each service growing there is a need for an assistant to support across all these services.
In this engaging role, you will be the friendly voice on our reception phone lines, greeting clients in person and at occasional events. You’ll provide valuable information and resources, maintaining our stock of guides while ensuring a person-centred approach in all interactions.
You’ll also empower individuals to live independently by assisting with the recruitment and training of support workers for our JAY service. Experience in low-level support work would be an asset, as you may step in to cover shifts while enjoying (You wouldn’t be required to do personal care or medication responsibilities).
Additionally, you’ll play a vital role in our volunteer-led initiatives, supporting older adults in reconnecting with their communities through goal setting and befriending services. With training provided, you’ll help monitor client progress and collaborate with team co-ordinators to maintain volunteer engagement.
If you’re looking for a rewarding opportunity that blends compassion, community service, and teamwork, apply now and help us support older adults in living their best lives!
