Assistant Development Officer
Organisation: Communities Together Durham (CTD)
Location: County Durham
Focus: Supporting refugees and asylum seekers through the New Arrivals Pathway programme and wider community integration.
Purpose of the Role
To support the delivery and administration of CTD’s Refugee and Asylum Seeker (RAS) work — including volunteer coordination, service user support, and project administration — helping new arrivals settle and integrate into County Durham communities.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Delivery
Assist with referrals, communication, and information sharing for the New Arrivals Pathway. Maintain accurate service user data and records (using CharityLog).
Volunteer Coordination
Recruit, match, and support volunteers, including placements for service users. Ensure placements run smoothly and comply with safeguarding and data protocols.
Service User Support
Help clients with practical needs (forms, college/benefit applications, etc.). Support caseworkers and complete Immigration Advice Authority Level 1 training.
Administration
Manage project communications, organise events, and support the RAS Project Lead. Handle general administrative and record-keeping tasks.
Team & Evaluation
Contribute to reporting and project evaluation. Attend meetings and maintain knowledge of best practice in refugee support and volunteer management.
