Clinical and Care Quality Lead – Registered Nurse

Job type:Permanent 36 hours per week

The Clinical and Care Quality Lead is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice, care delivery, and regulatory compliance across the home. They are the most senior Clinician within the home and take responsibility for ensuring the highest standards across clinical care delivery. The role provides professional leadership, oversight, and assurance of quality systems, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safe, person-centred care in support of the Home Manager.

Pembroke House is a purpose built care home for veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines in Gillingham. We have been serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans and their dependants for over 70 years. Our residents and staff enjoy a varied yet familiar way of life to encourage independence and give each day meaning and purpose. The home has a ‘family run’ feel and we have carefully created a supportive, friendly and close knit team, making it a unique and very special place to work.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide strong, professional leadership and strategic direction in all aspects of clinical and care quality.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory standards (including CQC, NICE, and safeguarding frameworks), and professional codes of practice.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of care policies.
  • Consistently role model clinical excellence through professional conduct and capability, maintaining a visible, hands-on presence in practice.
  • Provide on-call and emergency cover in accordance with the rota agreed with the Home Manager.

The Person

This role would suit someone who is naturally dependable, compassionate and trustworthy. They should be able to empathise with the needs of the residents, have patience and understanding and above all be kind and caring.

This role requires the post-holder to have and maintain Registered Nurse status and maintain an NMC pin number.

An enhanced DBS is a requirement of the post.

Pembroke House operates 365 days a year and so the postholder may be required to work across any 7 days of the week, sometimes at unsociable times and at night.
