At whg, we’re proud to build communities where people feel safe, supported, and valued. Our Neighbourhood Services team plays a vital role in shaping those communities, and we’re looking for an Assistant Contract Manager to help us take that even further.

Working closely with the Neighbourhood Services Manager, you’ll support the delivery and development of neighbourhood services, with a key focus on Neighbourhood Contracts and Stewardship. You’ll use your housing knowledge, leadership skills, and eye for detail to make sure our estates, communal areas, and partnerships deliver the very best for our customers.

Main job responsibilities:

  • Deliver a customer-focused service that achieves excellent standards within agreed satisfaction, performance, and financial targets.
  • Work in partnership with contractors to ensure high-quality management services across neighbourhoods and communal spaces.
  • Drive service improvements, ensuring value for money and enhanced customer satisfaction.
  • Support the procurement and performance monitoring of Neighbourhood Services contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Assist with managing and developing services for areas under third-party management agreements.
  • Develop and support colleagues within Neighbourhood Services to strengthen sustainability in our neighbourhoods and tenancies.
  • Utilise data insights to inform neighbourhood plans, manage resources effectively, and maintain high standards of contracted service delivery.
  • Lead, motivate and support your team to deliver innovative, flexible, and accountable service outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively across WHG and with external partners to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and communities.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Recent and relevant experience working within the housing sector, with sound knowledge of contract management.
  • Direct and demonstrable experience of effective partnership working with agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to housing management, and a good understanding of operational practices relevant to the role.
  • Experience of developing housing strategies and policies that drive value for money and service excellence.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, support and performance manage colleagues.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the confidence to make decisions, challenge current practices and implement change.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and IT skills, including report writing and data management.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

What’s in it for you?

In return, you will receive a competitive salary, 27 days annual leave (plus Christmas shut down), a defined benefit pension scheme, health cash plan, a range of shopping and leisure discounts.

We are output focused and flexible and believe in giving colleagues the right balance of autonomy and support to enable them to work to their full potential. Despite the high expectation for performance and delivery, we are committed to ensuring colleagues have a healthy work-life balance and able to work in agile ways which support them.
