Applications are invited for the above permanent, full time post working in Marketing, Communications and Recruitment to oversee the creation and delivery of diverse digital content across the university’s social media channels.

Duties will include being responsible for planning, developing, and implementing engaging content and activities across sector-leading social media platforms, maximising the opportunities offered by all digital channels. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for the active monitoring and engagement with our audiences across the university’s social media channels. The role also involves covering various university events, providing support for digital campaigns.

The successful candidate will join the Communications team to generate new and engaging content tailored to our audiences, in line with our Social Media Strategy. We are looking for someone with proven experience in creating engaging social media content, and an excellent understanding of digital platforms. The ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview. Purpose of the Job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Social Media

  • To provide effective Social Media support activity within the Marketing, Communications & Recruitment Department.
  • To assist with the development of engaging and effective social media content which balances the corporate and the quirky, the serious and the fun.
  • To communicate effectively with both staff and students and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the University, and any external body.
  • To adapt content to ensure it is relevant to different audiences and to different platforms in particular ensuring that it is positive and relevant.
  • To monitor and engage with audiences.
  • To grow social media audiences and their active engagement across all channels.
  • To monitor and report on social media reach and impact.
  • To stay up to date with the latest social media trends and new channels including which audiences are using what and how.

General

  • To network and build relationships internally and externally.
  • To work collaboratively and proactively with Communications, Brand, Marketing and Recruitment and the wider community to support and integrate with their work.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Educated to A level standard (or equivalent) or have equivalent relevant experience.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience/Knowledge

Essential

  • Previous experience of managing corporate social media channels.
  • Experience of creating content and seamlessly blending messages with more innovative content.
  • Experience of identifying/posting content that is appropriate for audience/platform.
  • Experience of using a social media management and monitoring tools and of measuring and reporting on success.
  • Experience of successfully growing audience size, diversity and engagement.

Desirable

  • Experience of managing social media and / or video production within higher education.
  • Experience of producing high quality and high impact video’s which are tailored to different channels.
  • Experience of video production via a range of facilities including camera, phone and applications such as Teams.
  • Experience of using video editing software and of editing, doing voice overs and adding subtitles to video content.
  • Experience of training and / or advising others on the use of social media.
