This includes reviewing and delivering Spark2Life’s businessdevelopment strategy, with a focus on securing funds from corporates, trustsand foundations, and local, regional and national funding bodies, includinggovernment departments, local authorities, community groups and individualdonors.As a member of the senior management team, you will also oversee all ofSpark2Life’s evaluations and the associated evaluation framework, workingclosely with our external evaluator. In addition, you will manage allcommunications activity — including the website, social media and pressengagement — through the line management of Spark2Life’s CommunicationsOfficer. This oversight ensures that our strategy is well coordinated and that allreporting requirements are fully met.You will be an experienced leader with a strong track record in contract,performance and people management. You will bring analytical andinnovative thinking, as well as a collaborative and strategic approach to yourwork. Working alongside the Managing Director and Finance Manager as partof the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will contribute to the strategicoversight and development of the charity in support of the CEO. You will alsoplay an active role in Board meetings by providing reports on your areas ofresponsibility to inform decision-making.Job DescriptionDuties & Key Responsibilities Service Delivery and ManagementTo work closely with the Executive team, contracted bid writer and seniormanagement team to identify a range of fundraising opportunities.To refine and update the organisation’s business development strategy tosupport the short, medium, and long-term sustainability of the charity.To achieve agreed income targets from a broad portfolio of fundraisingstreams, including corporate support, individual donors, trusts andfoundations and community fundraising.To prepare high quality and suitability costed applications for bids, grantsand tenders.To ensure that funding applications are underpinned with up-to-dateresearch, data and other relevant materials including needs assessmentsand evaluations.To monitor and forecast fundraising income and performance, on a regularbasis and taking remedial action when necessary.To ensure all community supporters are given the highest level of customercare and that all enquiries and requests for support are responded toquickly and effectively.To raise awareness of the organisation through Impact reports, events,high-profile collaborative projects, local networking, and utilising localmedia channels to achieve press and PR targets in partnership with theCommunications Officer and the Managing Director.Represent the organisation at relevant networking events and meetingswith potential donors, commissioners and contractors.Uphold the principles and policies of the organisationLine Management and team developmentDemonstrate to staff that they are valued by Spark2Life, foster good workingrelationships within the team, and build a fair and open managementculture.Line manage Communications Officer and contracted evaluator and bidwriters, facilitate and/or liaise with other relevant contracted employees asrequired.This includes performance management and review for paid staff andregular checks and meetings with contracted employees you areresponsible for.When asked - contribute to the strategic development of the organisationin all things funding related.Work as part of a wider team and at times work outside usual job duties tomeet organisational objectives.CommunicationsTo oversee the effective development and delivery of our communicationsstrategy:All external stakeholder engagement, including, but not limited to, socialmedia platforms, website, newsletters, publications and events.Press and media enquiries.Ensuring the voices of our clients are amplified and the work of our projectsis highlighted through our communications activity.Crisis or responsive communications activity relating to unforeseen eventsor campaigning requests.Direct line management of the Communications Officer.General ResponsibilitiesBe flexible and carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop orbe assigned in line with the broad remit of the position.Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professionaldevelopment.Abide by all organisational policies, codes of conduct and practices.Support and promote inclusion, diversity and equality of opportunity in theworkplace.Treat with confidentiality any sensitive information that is personal, privateor about individual organisations and or clients or staff and project data.Represent Spark2Life on a range of issues and in a range of situations whichinvolves dealing with people at all levels.Person Specification/ Key CompetenciesExperienceExperience working in a charity as a fundraiser and/ or a bid writer for aminimum of three yearsExperience of developing strategies and impact reports to encourage newor increased donationsExtensive experience of building successful internal and externalrelationshipsEvidence of achieving major grants and bids from trusts and foundationsExperience of working with fundraising databases to extract meaningfulinformation for strategy development, donor cultivation and reportingDemonstrable experience of staff management and work planningExperience of financial budgeting and reportingHighly organised with the ability to manage a large programme of workand projects successfullyAbility to manage a complex workload and meet conflicting deadlinesCreative, and can generate new and innovative ways to fundraiseVery strong writing skills in English and ability to produce high qualityimpactful contentAbility to get results in a resource-constrained environmentMeticulous attention to detail and accuracyPositive, resilient and supportiveSkills and AbilitiesEffective communication skills both verbally and in writing with people ofmany different backgrounds and within a range of settingsA confident and articulate individual able to communicate effectively withyoung people, their friends and family members, other workers andmembers of the wider community.Clear and precise writing skills;
