About the role
Are you an experienced and compassionate HCA ready to take the next step in your career? If you're currently leading a team and looking to specialise in palliative care, we’d love to hear from you.
Your Role as a Senior Healthcare Assistant
We’re seeking a dedicated Senior Team HCA to join our Community Services team in the Richmond and Hambleton area, where your leadership, empathy, and commitment can make a real difference. We are proud to deliver specialised end-of-life care that honours each individual with kindness, respect, and dignity.
Our Community Service team supports patients and their families at home, delivering holistic care that meets physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. As a Senior Team HCA, you will play a vital leadership role coordinating care, managing team members, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring consistently high standards of practice.
You’ll also be part of our wider clinical leadership team, working closely with colleagues across the organisation to cultivate a warm, responsive, and compassionate care environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and coordinate care delivery in the community, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate clinical practice.
- Line manage, mentor, support, and supervise HCAs and nursing staff fostering a positive team culture focused on learning and development.
- Develop and implement training and competency frameworks for the care team.
- Support the integration and delivery of complex and specialist palliative care.
- Oversee assessments, care planning, and implementation of individualised care in collaboration with patients, families, and the wider team.
- Manage complex symptoms and end-of-life care with clinical skill and emotional sensitivity.
- Contribute to continuous service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a role model in delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
What We’re Looking For:
- Substantial experience in palliative care, oncology, or acute settings.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience within a clinical team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm and confident approach to complex, sensitive care situations.
- A commitment to professional development, reflection, and lifelong learning.
You will ideally have experience coordinating complex care in the community and leading others in a specialist area. You’ll understand the nuances of changing patient needs and have a proven ability to provide responsive, tailored, and compassionate care in either ward or complex community settings.
Working in hospice care is more than a job, it’s a calling. If you’re ready to lead with empathy, bring comfort to others, and guide a dedicated team in delivering exceptional end-of-life care, we would be honoured to receive your application.
