  • Bede’s is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Physical Education in April 2026 for the Summer Term (Maternity Cover - Fixed Term). You will be a teacher who seeks to challenge, stretch and inspire our pupils through your outstanding teaching, organisation and innovation. You will relish the opportunity to become fully involved in the co-curricular life of our busy school.

    The academic department of Physical Education is recognised for its high standards and it aims to educate pupils in the overarching importance of physical education and develop a life-long love of sport, exercise and participation. PE at Bede’s, with Sport, has developed into a multifaceted department with elite-level hockey, football, cricket and tennis coaches as well as netball, athletics, basketball, squash and swimming being played competitively. You will look forward to working as part of the team of PE teachers and collaborating closely with our coaches. Our elite benefit from our close collaboration and they are inspired, nurtured and motivated to achieve the highest levels of performance.

    The department is housed within the Sports Hall which is surrounded by exceptional facilities including a multi-purpose Sports Hall with netball, basketball and badminton courts, extensive sports fields, squash courts, outdoor tennis and netball courts, a fitness studio, a competition-sized indoor pool, as well as multiple floodlit water based astro-turfs.

    You will be a keen participant in the world of sport and physical activity and be educated to degree level. You will have a genuine passion for Physical Education and a wider understanding of sport, coaching and fitness, along with a natural ability to work with young people. It is a high achieving yet warm and supportive environment for you to thrive. You must have BTEC knowledge to be able to apply for this position.

    This is a Fixed Term teaching position covering Maternity Leave, for the Summer Term, with availability to provide an overlap in the latter end of the Spring Term to ensure the successful candidate has a smooth transition to the classes and course.
