This is a fantastic opportunity to support the development of the next generation of skilled construction plant operatives.
Role: Vocational Assessor – Plant Operations (Construction)
Type: Mobile, managing your diary conducting onsite assessment visits with employers and learners within various construction sites nationally.
Location: Ideally covering the London area (Oxfordshire to Central London)
Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent
Grade: SC3
Target Salary: £47,973 per annum
Additional Benefits: Car Allowance £6,452 p/a plus mobile working allowance £580
Special Requirements: The post holder will be eligible for either a company car or a car allowance in line with the grade for this role, subject to the vehicle nominated for business use complying with CITB’s Car Policy.
About the Role:
As a Vocational Assessor, you will manage a cohort of apprentices and adult learners, assessing their knowledge, skills, and behaviours to ensure they meet industry standards and external awarding organisation requirements. You’ll play a key role in guiding learners through their apprenticeship journey, supporting learners towards successful End Point Assessment and/or SNVQ achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct workplace assessments and evaluations of learner performance
- Support Apprenticeship Development Coaches and Officers during periodic reviews
- Maintain regular communication with employers regarding learner progress
- Liaise with college-based Instructors and Lecturers to ensure alignment between college and workplace learning
- Guide learners in preparing portfolios for End Point Assessment (EPA) and SNVQ
- Provide constructive feedback to learners to support continuous improvement
- Monitor learner progress using the Learner Management Systems (e.g Aptem)
- Promote the development of English, maths, digital and personal skills
- Participate in learner-at-risk processes and implement support strategies
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times
- Maintain strong relationships with industry professionals and stakeholders
- Stay up to date with industry and educational developments through CPD

Your Experience
Essential Criteria
- Level 2 qualification relevant to Plant Operations
- Specialist licence to practice qualifications (e.g CPCS, NPORS)
- Industry experience in a construction industry related role within plant operations
- Excellent knowledge of current industry practices
- Assessor Awards (or willingness to achieve within one year)
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Level 2 or above in English and maths
- Excellent organisational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
Desirable Criteria
- Level 3 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve within one year)
- Higher-level construction-related qualification
- Level 5 teaching qualification
- Experience in apprenticeship delivery

Visit CITB/NCC training colleges at NCC East in Bircham Newton and NCC Scotland in Glasgow as and when required.
