ROLE PURPOSE Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG) is at a pivotal moment in its development. The organisation has ambitious plans to grow its commercial offer, including increasing visitor numbers, expanding commercial operations, and delivering a major capital project that will secure the Gardens’ future. The Marketing Coordinator will support delivery of BBG’s marketing across visitor experiences, public programmes, venue hire, stakeholder partnerships, retail, and Medicine Bakery. This role ensures consistent, high-quality communications that drive footfall, income, and engagement. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Campaign Delivery & Commercial Marketing • Plan and deliver campaigns for visitor experiences, public programmes, venue hire, memberships, retail, and café operations • Collaborate and initiate cross-promotional campaigns with partners. • Lead website marketing and content. • Support marketing during capital project phases, including building work and relaunch communications. Digital & Social Media • Lead day-to-day social media functions: content creation, scheduling, engagement, monitoring across multiple platforms. • Set up paid digital media adverts (including influencer marketing) and lead meta business suite. • Produce impactful photography, video, and short-form content for campaigns that drives engagement and booking leads and grows audiences. • Maintain website content and ensure accurate, engaging information. • Monitor digital performance and report on reach, ROI, engagement and campaign outcomes. Content Creation & PR • Create engaging, adaptable and innovative content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials. • Coordinate photography, video, and design assets for campaigns ensuring a strong visual identity across all channels. • Produce design work for print and digital campaigns, alongside briefing and managing projects with external designers. • Maintain and develop media contacts, to support proactive and responsive media activity to raise BBG’s profile both regionally and nationally. Reporting, Evaluation & Analytics • Track and monitor marketing activity and performance. • Contribute to regular marketing reporting working towards business targets and KPIs, evaluation, and metrics analysis. • Provide insights and recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness, ROI, and inform strategy. Administration • Maintain marketing calendars and schedules. • Track campaign spend against budgets. • Support the Marketing & Communications Manager with campaign evaluation and reporting. PERSON SPECIFICATION Area Essential Desirable Knowledge Experience Knowledge of social media management and how to create good quality content Experience in visitor attractions, arts, heritage, hospitality or leisure An understanding of GDPR and data protection; collecting, storing and using personal data Marketing basics and good practice Knowledge of SEO and digital advertising Understanding of working in the Charity sector Strong experience in marketing, communications, or a related role Has managed multiple projects across a variety of channels Experience supporting commercial marketing, partnerships, and campaign evaluation Experience using analytics tools. Experience in visitor attractions, arts, heritage, hospitality or leisure Has used email software such as Mailchimp, Dotdigital and CRM systems Experience with PR and media Qualifications English and Maths GCSE/equivalent Grade 4/C or above Marketing degree or studies in a related field Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic photography/video editing skills Proven ability to create engaging content Organised, proactive, and detail oriented Able to work to multiple deadlines and prioritise tasks Skills in design tools (such as Canva, Adobe). Other Team player with collaborative approach across departments and external partners.
