1 x fixed term contract (maternity cover) for up to 12 months

Elmhurst Ballet School are seeking to appoint 2 Classical Ballet teacher's to teach classical ballet classes, male and/or female students across year groups 4-6 and 7-11. One of the roles is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, the other is a permanent role (after successfully completing a probationary period). These roles are part-time hourly paid contracts and would suit a ballet teacher who has qualified teaching experience.

About Us

Elmhurst Ballet School is a highly successful vocational ballet boarding school associated with Birmingham Royal Ballet and is based one mile from the city centre in Edgbaston. Our Young Dancers Programme (pupils of school years 4 – 6) and our Extended Young Dancers Programme (pupils of school years 7-12) runs on a Saturday in Birmingham. Designed to ensure students are audition-ready for their next steps to becoming professional ballet dancer or entering the wider dance profession.

We’re offering  part-time, hourly-paid contracts (fixed-term up to one year) for teachers who bring both qualified teaching status and a genuine enthusiasm for nurturing dancers of all ages and abilities.

In this pivotal role, you will: 

  • Partner with the Principal to deliver Elmhurst’s vision.
  • Attend and report to the Board and its subcommittees, contributing to strategic governance and decision-making.
  • Deliver operational excellence and be alert for income generation opportunities.
  • Be a visible and valued part of our close-knit community, engaging directly with students through initiatives like the Food Sub-Council and supporting families through bursary processes.
  • See the tangible impact of your work, creating a home-from-home for boarding students, enabling joyful, healthy lives through well-run operations and being part of a platform that launches many young dancers’ careers.
  • Bring ideas, rigour, an eye for detail and a collaborative spirit to a school that is both magical and ambitious.

We’re looking for someone who is commercially astute, values-driven and comfortable moving between strategic and operational work. They must be a qualified accountant with a track record of effective line

Elmhurst Ballet School are looking for a Pianist to join us on a part-time hourly paid basis on our Saturday Young Dancer’s programme. This position is based in Birmingham.

Our Young Dancers Programme is for pupils of school years 4 – 7, we also run an extended Young Dancers programme for years 7 -13. Applicants should be competent pianists with a love of working collaboratively with other artists.
