The role specifically focuses on understanding the cultural needs of our local community, people who face systemic inequalities and disadvantage and people currently under-represented in our audiences.
The postholder programmes our existing flagship equalities initiatives and works closely with colleagues across Glasgow Film to identify new opportunities to sustain their impact, reach new audiences and nurture new partnerships.
As part of the Programme team, the role is directly involved in programming film screenings and events for and with a wide range of diverse audiences local to GFT.

Role responsibilities
The Community Engagement Coordinator is GFT’s ambassador to our local communities and partners, and a key figure ensuring that GFT remains a champion for equality, inclusion and access.
They work to ensure that as many people as possible can access the cinema, and engage with and benefit from participation in our programmes. The role specifically focuses on understanding the cultural needs of our local community, people who face systemic inequalities and disadvantage and people currently under-represented in our audiences.
The post-holder champions best practice across the organisation helping Glasgow Film embed and further develop our understanding of anti-racism and intersectionality. The postholder programmes our existing flagship equalities initiatives and works closely with colleagues across Glasgow Film to identify new opportunities to sustain their impact, reach new audiences and nurture new partnerships.
Person specifications
GFT is seeking a friendly, people-centred coordinator with a positive outlook and previous experience working with marginalised groups and communities. You’ll be passionate about ensuring access to cinema for as wide an audience as possible, and you will be enthusiastic about working with others to make that happen.
