Job Title: Admissions Officer Reporting to: Marketing Manager Location: Fyling Hall School, Robin Hood’s Bay (school-based, with flexibility as dictated by role) Job Type: Permanent, Part-Time (20 hours/week; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, flexible between 8:30–4:00) Salary: £13–£14 per hour, depending on experience Purpose of the Role Fyling Hall School is seeking a proactive and personable Admissions Officer to support the smooth running of the school’s admissions process. Working closely with the Headmaster and Marketing Manager, the post holder will help manage communications with prospective families, process enquiries and applications, and support admissions events. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with education agents, who support international student recruitment. While prior experience in admissions is not required, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and be confident working in a fast- paced, people-facing role. Full training will be provided. In addition to admissions duties, the role includes occasional, ad hoc support for marketing, reception, and general office tasks, making this a varied and collaborative position within a small school environment. Key Duties & Responsibilities Admissions • Respond to enquiries from prospective pupils and families (email, phone, in person) • Support the organisation of admissions events (e.g. open days, school tours, assessments) • Maintain and update admissions records and databases • Prepare and process offer letters, acceptance forms, and follow-up communications • Liaise with feeder schools, parents, and internal staff regarding admissions • Assist with Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) applications and record-keeping (training provided) • Ensure compliance with school admissions policies and deadlines • Help compile monthly admissions reports and metrics Agent Relationships • Build and maintain positive working relationships with education agents • Provide regular updates and communication to agent partners • Support agent-led enquiries and student applications • Attend occasional education fairs (primarily in London) to support international student recruitment, as required Marketing & Communications Support (Ad Hoc) • Assist the Marketing team with gathering content and coordinating events • Support promotional activity for admissions events and campaigns when needed Reception & Office Cover (Ad Hoc) • Provide occasional cover for reception: greeting visitors, handling calls, managing emails • Support general office administration (e.g. post handling, filing, stationery orders) Collaboration & Flexibility • Work closely with the Marketing, Admissions and Administration teams to ensure seamless coordination • Be adaptable to changing priorities and comfortable supporting multiple areas of school life Person Specification Essential: • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail • Friendly, professional, and confident when dealing with people • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) • Willingness to learn new systems and procedures Desirable: • Experience in a school or customer service environment • Knowledge of school admissions or education systems (training will be provided) Working Hours & Flexibility • 2o hours per week (20 hours/week; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, flexible between 8:30–4:00) • Based at Fyling Hall School, with potential for one day/week remote working after training • Occasional flexibility required for evening/weekend events (e.g. open days) Safeguarding Statement Fyling Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
