Its core values are compassion, honesty, integrity and transparency. For more information, please visit www.soidog.org JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title and Summary: Veterinary Nurse- Southern Mobile. The veterinary nurse is responsible for carrying out nursing duties at mobile sterilization clinics according to the standards and policies set by Soi Dog Foundation, contributing to high quality animal care and good community relations. These key staff members facilitate sterilization surgeries by providing support to veterinarians in the management and care of surgical patients, monitoring anesthesia, prepping patients, administering drugs, assuring smooth anesthetic recovery, and discharging patients to owners or dog catchers. These staff members are also trained in CPR and handling emergencies while in the field. Because the vet nurses are the ones most often interacting with the public, they are the face of the organization in the field. Key Responsibilities: Perform physical examinations of animals at intake to the clinic Assist with record keeping of clinic patients Calculate drug dosages Perform CPR when necessary Monitor intra and post-operative recovery of all surgical patients Discharge patients to owners and dog catchers Communicate with the catching teams and owners Prescribe medications when necessary Handle all animals humanely Maintain an account of veterinary stock, ensuring veterinary supplies are within shelf life and adequately stocked. Prepare animals for surgery and assist the veterinarian during surgery when necessary Clean and sterilize surgical instruments As part of the Soi Dog team, be available to help as needed, even with tasks that are Set-up and break down cages outside of the job description Department and Supervisor: Department of CNVR- Southern Mobile and report to Veterinary Support Staff Manager -Southern Mobile Skills and Qualifications: This person should enjoy working with animals, be able to lift 20kg, and work in a fast paced environment. Prior experience in veterinary nursing a plus. Location: Training in Bangkok (first 3 months), then could be stationed all over Thailand. Various locations throughout Southern province such as Nakhon Si Thammarat, Suratthani and Phatthalung province. Exact location to be determined.
