An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Charity Shop Manager to join our retail team, leading the day-to-day operations in our vibrant and welcoming furniture charity shop. You’ll play a key role in driving sales and profitability, promoting our charity’s mission, and delivering excellent customer service — all while making a real difference in your local community. You’ll manage a small team that includes a dedicated group of volunteers. Together, you’ll create a positive, inclusive, and productive shop environment where people love to work and shop.
What you’ll do:
Lead, inspire, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers
Maximise sales, donations, Gift Aid, and customer contributions
Ensure excellent stock management, merchandising, and shop presentation
Deliver brilliant customer service and resolve queries effectively
Take responsibility for cash handling, banking, and financial reporting
Maintain compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and GDPR
Represent the charity positively within the local community
Contribute to fundraising campaigns and charity events
Provide cover or support to other shops as needed
What you’ll need:
What matters most to us is your ability to lead a team, deliver results, and embody the values of our charity. If you bring energy, initiative, and a people-first approach, we want to hear from you. Experience in retail or charity shop management is ideal, but we’re open to transferable skills too.
We’re looking for someone with:
Retail management or supervisory experience (paid or voluntary)
A passion for customer service and community engagement
The ability to lead, motivate, and support a volunteer workforce
Strong organisation and problem-solving skills
A flexible, hands-on attitude and willingness to support other shops as needed
Knowledge of charity retail, Gift Aid, and donation processes (desirable)
