PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Reporting to and supporting the Head Chef and the wider kitchen team, this role will be key in providing excellent guest service over the festive period. You will ensure that all tableware, chinaware, cooking utensils and equipment are sanitary and clean, are available when required, and are stored in an organised fashion. An essential part of the role will be ensuring that guest health is protected by ensuring that all kitchen work areas are kept in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition. The role will also involve assisting the chefs with food preparation if required.
Although the role does not serve guests directly, the work carried out is critical to every guest and the people who directly serve customers. It is essential to deliver excellent customer service. This role will involve working shifts, and will include evening and weekend working. You will be expected to be flexible to accommodate the needs of a busy restaurant and function suite over the festive period.

KEY TASKS
- Washes pots, pans and trays by hand and/or machine.
- Ensures that all tableware, chinaware, and cooking utensils are sanitary and clean.
- Responsible for proper use and care of the dishwashing machine. Responsibility for reporting any maintenance issues to the Head Chef immediately
- Ensures a clean supply of dishware and silverware is available as well as an adequate supply of utensils for the kitchen.
- Washes work area tables, walls, refrigerator equipment, cooking equipment and floors and ensures kitchen area is kept in a sanitary and organised condition.
- Removes food and other waste to waste area.
- Cleans waste bins and keeps waste area clean.
- Assistance in food preparation if required
- Follows Piece Hall Restaurant operational policies and procedures, including cleaning schedules and policies for food hygiene, safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees and guests during each shift
- Uses all PPE and chemicals appropriately
- Performs other clean-up functions, such as general cleaning, or any other related duties assigned by Management, while ensuring that all safety and sanitation standards are maintained
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Able to maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume
- Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to reach and lift overhead up to 10kg
- Able to work in hot and cold temperature extremes subject to fluctuations for long periods of time.
- Able to work in an environment where smoke, fumes, steam, and other airborne particles are present
- Able to work around, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner
- Able to work at a pace consistent with changing business volume and demands
- Able to learn quickly
- Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work as part of a team
- Organised and punctual
