As well as answer general queries about LfA, you will talk to students about your personal experience. This includes any weekly and intensive courses you have taken, as well as Autonomous Learning if relevant i.e. language exchange activities.
Main duties:
- Oversee languages cafes and encourage the students to engage with the activities on offer.
Inform potential Cardiff University students and their parents/carers about the Languages for All programme, including:
- Talk about your own experiences on the programme.
- Tell them how you have used your language skills and cultural knowledge outside the classroom i.e. on a GO placement (study/work/volunteer abroad), on holiday or with other students at the University.
You will be expected to:
- Research the Languages for All intranet pages before events, so you are well informed about the main components of the programme.
- Work together with the Student Engagement Officer, student ambassadors and tutors to ensure that the aims of the event are met, whilst assisting with detailed elements of event delivery.
- Help to set the appropriate tone for the event; lively yet professional.
- Anticipate and prevent potential problems, and deal with issues associated with visitor needs.
- Communicate promptly, clearly and sensitively with all university staff, students and parents/carers.
- Be professional in conduct and actions at all times, and maintain a positive and co-operative attitude.
- Set up and remove the relevant materials for each session and make sure the venue is tidy at the end of the cafe. The resources can be stored in the first-floor cupboard in the CSL or in the MLANG office.
