Marketing Assistant - Contract: Job Description Principal Aims ● To support the Marketing & Press team in delivering Exeter Phoenix’s marketing strategy. ● To contribute to effective and creative campaigns that engage audiences and communities. ● To ensure consistency, accuracy and quality across all communications. This role will support the delivery of our extensive marketing plan across print, digital and social platforms; it's an exciting opportunity to play a part in engaging audiences across our diverse programme of events including live music, exhibitions, film, theatre and so much more. You'll be helping Exeter Phoenix continue to thrive as a vibrant cultural hub in Exeter City Center. Specific Duties (to be shared with the marketing team): Core Weekly Tasks – these tasks form the backbone of the Marketing Assistant role and will be part of your regular weekly workflow: ● Keep in-house poster boards, flyer racks and digital display screens up-to-date ● Support with associated in-house print runs and distribution requests ● Update and maintain website event listings, including communication via email with promoters to obtain and confirm details as needed ● Support the creation and scheduling of e-newsletters (including Creative Hub and Gallery mailers) ● Support social media planning, content creation and scheduling across all Exeter Phoenix channels ● Take ownership of community management (monitoring, responding and engaging with audiences), adhering to relevant guidelines ● Create and update Facebook Events ● Provide copywriting and proofing support for campaigns, blogs and website content ● Assist with press send-outs as needed ● Provide support for Meta advertising campaigns as needed Additional / Ad-Hoc Tasks – these tasks support specific projects, exhibitions and campaigns, and will vary throughout the year: ● Contribute creative ideas for marketing content and campaigns ● Support with the creation of owned social media content including photography and Reel creation ● Support the organisation and upkeep of the Marketing Asset Bank and SharePoint files ● Deliver marketing support for gallery installations ● Support Creative Hub social media and newsletters (aligned to programme activity) ● Undertake research to contribute to press lists, outreach and campaign development ● Represent Exeter Phoenix at events where required (occasional evenings/weekends, TOIL provided) ● Other tasks as reasonably required by the Marketing & Press Manager Working Pattern This role is part-time, 15 hours per week (0.2 FTE), usually worked in the office on Monday and Friday. Please note: during the first two weeks of employment, a more flexible in-office pattern may be required to allow for training and induction with the team. After this period, the usual working pattern of Mondays and Fridays in-office will apply. Person Specification E = Essential, D = Desirable Experience At least 6 months of marketing or promotion experience Knowledge of and interest in the arts Skills Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including proof-reading and editing skills PC and/or Mac literate Familiarity with Microsoft Office OR Google equivalents, especially Excel/ Sheets Good interpersonal skills Fastidious attention to detail – especially when proofing and ensuring accurate data entry Working knowledge of Wordpress or other website CMS Working knowledge of Spektrix or other Box Office software or CRM Familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) Ability to work flexibly in a fast paced environment with competing priorities D E E E E E E D D D D E Willingness to show initiative and engage with tasks proactively E
