Lymington Rushmore South West Staff Worker (FULL-TIME) About Lymington Rushmore Lymington Rushmore is a Christian ministry that seeks to share the good news of Jesus with young people by resourcing the work of chaplains and other Christian staff in schools through term time, and by running residential events (‘camps’) in the holidays. We currently run two Christmas House parties (one for those in school years 12 and 13, and one for students); two Easter Revision Weeks (for those sitting GCSEs and A Levels); four Senior Summer Camps (school years 9-13) and three Junior Camps (school Years 6-8), as well as occasional events through the year for teachers, those starting gap years and university, students, and our wider leadership teams. The historic focus of our work has been with independent schools, but we are keen to explore possible links with school staff and pupils in any sector. You can read more about us at lymingtonrushmore.org and the work of our sister camps at on titustrust.org. In dependence on the love of God the Father, the grace of God the Son, and in the power of God the Holy Spirit, we seek to grow in living out the Titus Trust’s values of being loving, humble, trustworthy, joyful and serving – and repent of ways in which we’ve failed to do that in the past. About you We are looking for a prayerful, humble, faithful, and servant hearted individual with a love for the Lord Jesus, His Word, and for young people. You will need gentleness and pastoral sensitivity as well as experience of working with young people in a ministry context. You will also need gifts in teaching the Bible and experience of pastoral care in a variety of settings. You will need to take initiative in developing areas you are given responsibility for. You will need to cope with spending up to seven weeks a year away from home living in a close-knit community – and we hope those times, while full of challenges, will be a joy! This role might suit someone with experience of teaching, church-based youth work, or at the end of a curacy or equivalent. While previous experience of our camps may be helpful, we would also welcome applications from those who haven’t been involved in the Titus Trust before, and value the new insights, perspectives and opportunities that could bring. 1 · Lymington Rushmore South West Staff Worker Job Description About the role Description The exact nature of the role will depend on the experience and skills of the person appointed, but it will involve considerable and varied responsibilities that include visiting schools to speak at Christian meetings, chapel services and assemblies, as well as assisting with organising and leading the residential weekends and holidays throughout the year. The main focus of the role is to develop our existing links with schools in the South-West region. We also hope that there will be plenty of scope to establish new links with schools in the area. Whilst the Trust has traditionally focussed on independent schools there is a desire to explore new partnerships in both maintained and independent sectors. Initially, we envision the role would involve inviting young people to existing Lymington Rushmore holidays, but with a view to developing regional- specific events and holidays as opportunities and resources present themselves. Longer-term, we hope to pioneer a new camp group for the area, to work alongside Glod (Northern regions), LDN (London), and Lymington Rushmore (eventually, we hope, focussed on Central and South-Eastern Regions). The role requires working closely with an encouraging and supportive staff team and large teams of wonderfully servant-hearted volunteers. Colleagues The role would be overseen by the Revd Anthony Bewes who leads the LR staff team and is accountable to the Trustees of the Titus Trust. He is assisted by another staff member, who has a particular focus on the Junior camps. We currently have one other full-time staff member; are recruiting for a senior staff member, and may have a number of post-graduate associate staff members join us on a shorter-term basis. The team is supported by two administrators, and the central administration team at the Titus Trust. The role may involve line-managing other staff and associates on the team. Although the role will be based away from the Oxford office, there will be close involvement with the rest of the staff, including fortnightly team meetings. Responsibilities of the Role include… • To pray for the work of Lymington Rushmore and those involved in it. • To establish existing school links in the South West and develop new ones as possible. • To share the gospel with young people in diverse settings – both in schools and on camps, and ranging from large school assemblies to small CUs, with a particular focus on schools in the South-West. • To support teachers in their year-round ministries; to mentor staff and associates (depending on levels of your experience); and to oversee the recruiting, training and pastoral care of campers, assistant leaders and leaders for camp. • We expect you will lead on at least three summer camps, two Christmas Houseparties, the Moving On Weekend and the Easter Revision Weeks, as well as attending and contributing to training events for teachers and leaders. Depending on experience and gifting, it may involve being the overall leader of some camps, which brings further responsibilities, including ensuring compliance to the Trust’s safeguarding and Health and Safety policies. • Working with the Team Leader to develop gospel partnerships with Christian parents, local churches and other Christian organisations. • To work closely with the LR staff team while seeking to establish South-West camp group that we hope will be independent of LR longer-term. • To play an active part in the wider Titus Trust Staff Team • To share in the administrative tasks of the team/wider Trust as required • To set aside time for personal study Location: A suitable base in the South-West (perhaps Exeter or Bristol), but this would be discussed at interview Salary: From £25-40K full-time depending on experience Start Date: September 1st 2025 (flexible for the right candidate) There is an occupational requirement to be a Christian. We are committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced with barred list information. This is a UK-based post and applicants must be living in and have the right to work in the UK. 2 · Lymington Rushmore South West Staff Worker Job Description Person specification REQUIREMENT Faith ●A committed, prayerful Christian, growing as a disciple of Christ, and walking humbly and blamelessly as expected of Christian leaders (1 Timothy 3.1-13) ●Shares the theological convictions set out in the Trust’s Doctrinal Basis ●Actively involved in the ministry of a local church Young People ●Has an evident pastoral concern for pre-teens, teenagers and students. ●Has recognised gifts in teaching and relating to them.
