Tyneside Cinema is seeking a strategic and creative Programme Producer to join the new Tyneside Cinema Talent Unit Team on a freelance basis.
The role will develop the content, direction and future of the Talent Unit, providing an engaging programme internally and forging valuable external links within the screen & content industry.
In 2026, the doors will open to the Tyneside Talent Unit housed within the Tyneside Cinema. This will offer unique talent development opportunities for young people aspiring to work within the screen & content industry in state-of-the-art facilities.
The Talent Unit Programme Producer will lead the team, direction and engagement. This will be a highly responsive, organic and resourceful role that will need an individual that feels comfortable operating in a start – up mode and be able to test, learn and grow in the role.
Role details
- Freelance contract for 12 months (starting January 2026)
- Part-time, three days per week

Role responsibilities
- Produce an engaging and relevant programme of events and activities to be hosted as part of the Talent Unit.
- Work with members to tailor support, resources and facilitators that meet their needs.
- Undertake benchmarking to ensure the Talent Unit remains relevant and up-to-date with the screen industries across factual & non factual content
- Secure funding for expansion and continued development of the Talent Unit
- Complete reporting, monitoring and evaluation as required
- Lead on all creative aspects of the Talent Unit, and manage a team of freelancers to deliver high-quality support to the members
Person specifications
Essential
- Knowledge of production within screen & media industries
- Direct experience of engagement with young people
- Experience in design and delivery of producing and project managing programmes
- Business management skills.
- Leadership skills
- Experience in funding and sponsorship
- The ability to be thorough
- Detail oriented
- The ability to use your initiative.
- The flexibility to be open to change.
- The ability to organise your time and workload efficiently
Desirable
- Experience of start- up environments
- Technical film making knowledge
- Experience of facilitating workshops
- Lived experience of marginalisation, or working with marginalised voices
