The role requires the singing teacher to providepupils with a rounded musical education, and the successful applicant will be an experienced andtalented teacher who is able to inspire young singersThe Music Department is flourishing and vibrant, with around 250 one-to-one music lessons delivered each week andapproximately 12 different ensembles. The pupils perform regularly in class, in informal concerts and at formal end-of-term concerts. There are also a variety of productions throughout the year involving pupils of all ages.Music is highly valued at Aldwickbury, and the children are inspired by the passion and expertise of the teaching staff.This enthusiasm has led to a steady increase in the number of pupils taking up lessons and becoming involved in co-curricular music. A number of pupils have gone on to achieve music scholarships and awards at their 13+ destinationschools.The Music DepartmentMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesAldwickbury is committed to continuous improvement, and all staff are expected to actively participate in schoolactivities and embrace a flexible, forward-thinking approach. While every effort has been made to outline the key duties of this role, additional responsibilities may be assigned asneeded by the Director of Music and updated in line with the evolving needs of the school. Teach 30-minute individual singing lessons to pupils as directed by the Director of MusicActively promote and support the recruitment of new singing pupilsDemonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for singing, fostering a positive, encouraging learning environment both inindividual lessons and throughout the departmentProvide a tailored programme of study for each pupil that ensures clear progression and continuityEnsure pupils understand and follow their practice expectations between lessonsUse the school’s system to register pupils and record weekly written practice notesPrepare and motivate pupils to perform in concerts, assemblies, and other school eventsPrepare pupils for public music examinations as appropriateSupport pupils auditioning for National Youth Choir and/or senior school music scholarshipsBe available, on occasion, for ad hoc school events such as concerts and church services3Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will be an engaging, enthusiastic, and highly skilled singing teacher who can inspire pupils ofall abilities and nurture a lifelong enjoyment of music.Qualifications and ExperienceA recognised music degree or equivalent professional qualification in voice, vocal performance or music educationA recognised teaching qualification and/or significant vocational experience in vocal teachingProven experience teaching singing to primary and/or prep school-aged pupilsExperience preparing pupils for graded music examinations, choral auditions, and music scholarshipsThorough and up-to-date knowledge of examination requirementsSkills and Personal QualitiesStrong communication and motivational skills, with a child-centred and encouraging approachWarm, engaging, and approachable, with excellent interpersonal skills when working with pupils, parents, andcolleaguesThe ability to inspire confidence and a love of singing, tailoring teaching style to suit the needs of individual pupilsA pleasant and professional manner combined with enthusiasm and energyA genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, in line with school policyTerms of AppointmentHours of work:Contract:Salary:Benefits:Part-time, up to 1 day per week.
