We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Community Fundraiser to join our growing team of professionals as we embark on a journey of expansion. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment within a developing service. It is a key role within the Fundraising Team contributing to the growth of community fundraising income and development of the database of supporters, serving to feed into the charity’s other fundraising income lines.

Established in 2000, Caudwell Children aims to change people’s lives, change the way society perceives and treats disabled and autistic people through the provision of child-centred practical and emotional services, passionate campaigning and demonstrating best practice.  We believe in a world where disabled and autistic children have the choice, opportunity, dignity and understanding they deserve help us in our mission!

Our facilities provide a state-of-the-art base within the grounds of Keele University, Staffordshire, with the majority of this role being delivered in communities around Staffordshire local to the charity’s new SEND Support Team locations.

Duties and responsibilities

The Community Fundraiser will be responsible for raising funds through cultivating relationships with local supporters and volunteers. They will need to carefully plan and deliver a regional approach to community engagement by galvanizing existing community groups and networks to choose Caudwell Children for their own fundraising activities, offering advice and support to encourage successful fundraising and repeat, long term support.

Key Responsibilities

Planning: Applying a knowledge of the geographical region and existing community groups/networks to ensure a comprehensive awareness of Caudwell Children and the need for fundraising among the business community and general public.

Supporter Engagement: Identify, recruit, and support individuals, local businesses, and families to create targeted community fundraising groups. Build and maintain relationships with donors to encourage repeat contributions.

Fundraising Activities: Recommend and encourage community fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to achieve financial goals and raise awareness for the charity within Staffordshire. Maintain an excellent level of understanding of the charity’s other fundraising activities to identify opportunities for internal referrals.

Event Representation: Attend and represent the charity at community events to increase visibility and engagement, promoting fundraising products and campaigns.

Volunteer Coordination: Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers for local fundraising activities, ensuring they are well-supported and engaged.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of supporter and volunteer activities using a CRM system (Raiser’s Edge NXT), providing regular reports and updates on fundraising progress.

Compliance: Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant regulations and best practices, including the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice.

This role is crucial for driving community engagement and financial support for the charity, making it essential for candidates to be motivated, professional, and passionate about the cause they represent.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven track record in fundraising or significant relevant volunteering experience is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously
  • Community Knowledge: Familiarity with local geography and community dynamics in the Staffordshire area with the ability to adapt fundraising strategies accordingly
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude with a flexible approach to work.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the role after reasonable adjustments have been made for illness or disability.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of local community groups & public events in Staffordshire
  • Knowledge of the local business community in Staffordshire
  • Knowledge of statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Experience of working in the Third Sector.
  • Experience of working in CQC and ISO regulated organisations.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
