A historic, inclusive, and justice-seeking Baptist congregation in the heart of London’s West End is seeking an Organist and Director of Music to lead and develop its vibrant musical life. Worship draws on both traditional and contemporary sources, rooted in the Baptist heritage and open to the global richness of Christian expression.

 

Music is central to the church’s vision of “Provoking Faith in the Heart of London”, helping to deepen theology, lift prayer, and open the church’s life to the wider world through creativity, collaboration, and beauty.

We are looking for a gifted organist and inspiring musical leader with a clear vocation to the ministry of music in the local church. The successful candidate will lead music at weekly Sunday services (11am), direct the volunteer choir, and recruit and develop the Bloomsbury Choral Scholars, enabling their contribution to regular worship. Oversight of the church’s monthly Organ Recital Series and the annual Organ Day is also part of the role, offering scope for creative curation.

Remuneration according to experience IRO £12,000-£14,000

The Role
We are seeking an Organist and Director of Music who will shape and lead the musical and worship life of the church. This role is for someone with a clear vocation to the ministry of music and worship, someone who feels called to help people encounter the divine through a variety of musical forms. This post has a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 for the post-holder to be a practising Christian.
