The Garrowby Benefice

Location:

Yorkshire and Lincs

Recruiter:

York Diocese

The Garrowby Hill Benefice comprises five rural parishes, all with listed buildings in very picturesque settings but what sets us apart is not the buildings, but the Church – God’s people living and working in those parishes. We are committed, supportive and active in sharing our faith through our worship in our churches and via our regular broadcast services. Ecumenically we are a mixed bunch and this is one of our strengths and part of our tradition with the patron being involved in the Malines Conversations. Our worship includes both formal sacramental services and informal family worship. We seek someone who has a vision and a calling, who will:

be our teacher, preacher, leader and friend who will work with us to develop our vision for the next years and encourage us to move forward and grow in faith

identify and encourage others to discern their calling to do God’s work in our parishes

have the energy and enthusiasm to develop the Christian faith amongst those with young families … through our Family Services and in our Church of England schools

have the energy to juggle different requirements, is pragmatic and understands how to delegate, whilst being a friendly visible approachable presence in the community

have the ability to take what we do seriously whilst not taking ourselves too seriously

We offer you the opportunity to minister and live in a beautiful rural area. We are people open to new ideas and inspiration, supportive and willing to offer assistance, with expertise in a wide range of secular fields. Our parishes are committed to ensuring the sustainability of their churches for both Church and secular needs. We are well organised and work together efficiently and effectively. In taking up a half-time post you would have support and encouragement from people across the benefice to make the ministry realistic and enjoyable. Informal enquiries are welcome.
