About Sue Ryder
Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

More people than ever want to be cared for at home — surrounded by comfort, dignity, and the people they love.

And thanks to our new long-term partnership with NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (ICB), Sue Ryder is proud to help more people achieve this choice.
We’re building on our already hugely successful South Oxfordshire Hospice at Home service to launch a brand-new Hospice at Home service in Berkshire West.
This is a unique opportunity to join our service at the very beginning, helping Sue Ryder to reach more communities, so more people can receive expert end-of-life care in the place they feel most at comfortable: home.

About the role
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant in our Hospice at Home team, you will:

Deliver hands-on care in patients’ homes across Berkshire West and South Oxfordshire.
Work closely with our community nursing teams, doctors, therapists, and volunteers to provide holistic, person-centred care.
Support patients and their families with dignity, compassion, and empathy.
Play a vital role in ensuring people can stay at home, surrounded by those they love, with the right care and support in place.

No two days are the same in palliative and end-of-life care. You’ll work across a variety of situations, supporting patients in their last months, weeks, or days of life, helping them live as fully as possible.

About you
We are looking for dedicated, empathetic professionals who want to make a real difference in their community. You will bring:

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) (Essential)
A UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (Essential)
Strong clinical and interpersonal skills (Essential)
An understanding of person-centred, inclusive care principles (Essential)
A real passion for providing high-quality palliative and end-of-life care (Essential)

Experience of community care or lone working is desirable but not essential—we provide full induction, training, and ongoing support, including a thorough induction with dedicated time to settle into the role.

There is plenty of scope to further develop your own skills in specialist palliative care. If you would like to arrange an informal visit to meet some of our Hospice at Home team, please let us know.
