10th December 2025

The Beacon Centre is a highly valued community service that provides a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space for homeless and isolated people in Banbury. Volunteers work in a team to provide food and drinks to visitors under the supervision of the Drop-in Coordinator. We are opening the doors to the centre on Christmas Day 2025 to provide a little festive cheer to a group of people who would otherwise be on their own without support.

People who are homeless or isolated benefit greatly from having a safe warm and non-judgmental place where they can have access to some food and drinks, interact with peers in similar circumstances and find out about services available to them and how to access them. Whilst we strive to give support throughout the year with simple hot meals and drinks, we want to make a special effort to provide warmth and a little joy at Christmas too.

We are seeking Volunteers to help us to provide a festive meal at the Banbury Drop-in Centre by working in a team to help serve the food and drinks to visitors under the supervision of the Drop-in Coordinator.

How you can help in maintaining the welcoming nature and continued take-up of this valuable community service:

  • Setting up the kitchen, including getting the equipment ready,
  • Following food hygiene and health & safety guidelines and preparing food and drinks following guidelines from the Drop-in Coordinator,
  • Clearing away at the end of each session,
  • Interacting with visitors as needed, ensuring attendance is monitored and any concerns are passed to the Drop-in Coordinator.
