Operational and Welfare Standards Officer

As an Operational and Welfare Standards Officer you will develop and manage the SOPs for our operations teams across the charity. Working with various teams will be a key part of the role, helping you to understand the needs and developments of areas such as veterinary and behaviour.
What does this role do?
As an Operational and Welfare Standards Officer you will:
- Work with teams across the organisation to create SOPs, guidance and training briefs.
- Regular review of SOPs.
- Research and prepare new procedures for consultation.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure SOPs remain up to date and relevant.
- Provide advice and guidance on SOPs and their practical implementation.
Could this be you?
The ideal candidate will have experience working in an operational role with operating procedures, ideally with a background of creating SOPs, training documents and guidance. A background in behaviour, veterinary, or rehoming operations is essential, along with a commitment to high welfare standards and the mission of Dogs Trust. You'll bring strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to translate complex information into clear guidance, and a collaborative approach to working across specialist teams, with an understanding of the professional and legal context for animal welfare charity operational activities.
What does this team do?
The Professional Engagement and Policies team manage relationships with key external professional stakeholders, such as vets, police, and health care workers. They also oversee the development and review of professional standards and standard operating procedures for operations and also provide specialist behaviour input to non-operational teams across Dogs Trust, including public affairs, fundraising and comms.
The Veterinary and Welfare department is responsible for providing clinical support, specialist professional development, engagement with professional stakeholders, and policy and standards for veterinary and behaviour specialist areas as well as standard operational procedures.
