The Opportunity:

The Residential Education Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month role, who will play a key role in fostering a vibrant, safe, and inclusive residential community. The Residential Education Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day educational & operational aspects of the Residential Life program at the Hult International Business School’s residence hall, Hult House. Primary elements of this role include supervising student employees serving as Resident Assistants, coordinating co-curricular programming efforts, providing administrative support to several processes, and serving in an on-call capacity. This role also works in close collaboration with the Director of Residential Life on departmental projects, policy development, and staff support. This role is essential to ensure an enriching and supportive experience for students while maintaining a focus on student development, safety, and community engagement.

Anticipated Start Date: December 2025 or January 2026 (An earlier start date may be considered should the successful candidate be available to start earlier.)

Key Responsibilities

Staff Leadership, Management, & Development

  • Directly supervise between 7 and 14 student employees serving as Resident Assistants; provide ongoing support, mentorship, professional development, and evaluation.
  • Conduct weekly supervision meetings with each staff member to ensure resident support, programmatic oversight, and building operational management.
  • Co-Facilitate weekly staff meeting with colleague and full building staff team to provide departmental updates, conduct ongoing training & development, and receive feedback from staff.
  • Indirectly supervise 5-7 part-time hourly student staff members, providing operational efficiency and appropriate staffing needs per the expectations of the institution.
  • Participate in all staff trainings, professional development, staff recognition, and other opportunities to engage student and professional staff members within the office.
  • Oversee departmental recognition and engagement opportunities for student staff and residents, including end of term events, designing apparel, and ensuring staff represent the brand of Hult/Residential Life well.
  • Work in collaboration with Director of Residential Life to develop culturally competent supervision and dynamic engagement strategies for staff members to increase relationship development opportunities for staff members.
  • Collaboratively develop and facilitate several training and staff development opportunities throughout the academic year to ensure a high level of autonomy for our student employees, intentional customer service ethos, and to ensure all staff members understand and can implement required federal, state, and local guidance related to university housing.
  • Work in collaboration with Director of Residential Life, Assistant Director of Residential Life, and other colleagues to develop and implement a through and intentional staff recruitment and selection process.

Residential Community Support, Outreach, and Development

  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and diverse residential community through proactive student engagement and relationship building that aligns with the mission of Hult International Business School.
  • Be a visible and approachable presence within the residence hall, interacting with students on a regular basis to proactively address concerns and enhance their living experience.
  • Partner with campus resources, including Counseling Services, Academic Coaching, and CARE Team representatives, to support student well-being and success.
  • Coordinate innovative initiatives to increase student relationships with Residential Life, ensuring a positive outlook on the student experience is maintained, improved, and developed.
  • Continually develop and execute assessment initiatives to measure the impact and effectiveness of departmental initiatives, student satisfaction, and areas of improvement that may need attention and/or resources.

Residential Programmatic Development, Support, & Implementation

  • Responsible for the delivery of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate co-curricular learning initiatives, delivered through various methods within the residence hall by Resident Assistants and the professional staff team.
  • Oversees programmatic needs based on data-based metrics, continual assessment, and both qualitative & quantitative feedback from students and Resident Assistants.
  • Ensures programmatic offerings complement the academic programs as appropriate; ensures alignment with other student life offices/services to increase collaboration and avoid duplication of programmatic efforts.
  • Maintains a strong focus on operational efficiencies related to programming – namely upholding price consciousness, return on investment/effort, and highlighting initiatives that are particularly well received.
  • Ensures programmatic assessment is conducted and upheld to measure successes and to suggest areas for improvement/development when a lack of engagement is noted.
  • Maintains a programming environment that both highlights the cultural diversity inherent to our community, while ensuring programmatic focus is spread equitably over the entirety of our population.

Residential Operational Management & Administration

  • Work closely with Director of Residential Life to manage aspects of hall occupancy, assignments, and utilization to ensure efficiency of student assignments and alignment with programmatic offerings.
  • Support the day-to-day operational aspects of the residence hall to align those operations with the broader goals of Hult International Business School.
  • Co-manage residence life communications, including but not limited to departmental inbox, assigning of student issues to the appropriate staff members, provide administrative tracking of various resources, and collaborating with other constituents to share information with the campus.
  • Co-manage social media accounts of the department, developing social media plan to align with marketing, sales, and engagement goals of Residence Life and/or the institution.
  • Provide support to mailroom operations, as needed, to ensure high levels of customer service and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the day-to-day appearance of the building is maintained, working with Director and other campus resources to address any concerns.
  • Respond to any facilities or maintenance requests in a timely manner, following up to ensure resolution and resident satisfaction.
  • Manage and coordinate logistics related to the housing needs of short-term and long-term stays of faculty and staff, including managing access, communications, linen services, coordination of cleaning, and ensuring satisfaction from all internal guests, as needed.
  • Address any guest escalations, resolve conflicts, and ensure the summer housing program remains welcoming and safe, as needed.

Individualized Student Support, Outreach, and Behavioral Intervention

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all residential students, providing ongoing mentorship, referral to campus resources, and serving as a positive example to the campus community.
  • Seek out, listen to, and respond to student feedback in alignment with office/campus direction; work with students to implement feedback when possible & appropriate.
  • Promote awareness, inclusion, and appreciation of cultural and lifestyle differences to ensure individual and group success within the residence hall.
  • Serve as a student behavior liaison, utilizing a culturally competent and highly developmental approach to correcting student behavior and ensuring accountability within the expectations of the institution.
  • Work collaboratively with Student Conduct Manager to ensure policies are well communicated and advertised to students to ensure all students are aware of the policies that apply to them.

Residential On-Call Support & Crisis Management

  • Serve as part of a rotating on-call schedule to respond to emergencies, crises, and other ‘as needed’ responsibilities within the residence hall, ensuring student safety & well-being, as well as continued business resilience.
  • Provide immediate assistance and guidance in cases of personal, health, or safety-related emergencies, working in conjunction with campus security and other institutional departments.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of incidents, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and relevant legal regulations.

Campus Initiatives, Special Projects, and Summer Support

  • Represent Residence Life at institutional events such as New Student Orientation, Staff Meetings, Intake Presentations and other events and/or meetings requiring the presence of Residence Life leadership.
  • Support the Boston Campus’ commencement exercises each August.
  • Participate in Hult House Orientation meetings, in-person and via Zoom; support Hult’s marketing and sales efforts as related to residing both in Hult House & in Boston.
  • Support various efforts executed by partner offices such as Hult Prize, TEDx Hult Boston, and events held by Hult Student Association (HSA) or other groups/clubs, as directed.
  • Execute various campus/departmental projects as needed and/or that align with professional interests/skillsets.
  • Understanding of Summer Conferencing and the differing needs of external guests vs. matriculated students; must exhibit high levels of customer service throughout summer term.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field strongly preferred. 

Experience: Applicants should possess 2-4 years of experience in residential life & housing, or a related student services area (may include work completed during the undergraduate or graduate degree(s.)) Prior crisis response experience required. Prior supervisory experience of undergraduate and graduate students preferred. Prior understanding of program development, implementation, and assessment is important for success in this role.

  • Working knowledge of student development theories and a strong understanding of the servant leadership approach.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; A tactful housing professional focused less on furthering issues and more on developing creative and collaborative solutions to new issues.
  • Crisis management experience and the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively while maintaining an exemplary level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, diverse, and global environment.
  • Strong respect and appreciation for a globally centered student population; lack of student deficit mindset.

Additional Requirements:

  • The Residential Education Coordinator is required to maintain their primary residence within the assigned unit at Hult House, our student residence hall, in beautiful Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • The Residential Education Coordinator participates in a rotating on-call schedule, which includes, nights, weekends, and holidays. Depending on staffing levels, the on-call responsibilities may change semester to semester.
