It includes every stage of that journeyand is fundamental in building and enabling the vibrant and diverse VCSEsector we have in Bolton. This role will focus on organisations who are based inand/or work with residents in Farnworth; many of which are likely to apply forfunding via the newly developed Farnworth Fund (administered by the Funding& Grants Team at Bolton CVS).As a Development Officer you will play your part in making sure groups andorganisations have the advice and support they need to run safely andsustainably. You will work with colleagues across the organisation and with ourpartners to give the best advice, support and training possible, building uprelationships and networks along the way. Your knowledge will be key inensuring that we continue to empower groups to grow and develop and for thepeople involved to gain the skills they need to do this. Your work will directlycontribute to ensuring Bolton CVS’ offer to its members and the wider sector isrelevant, engaging and of the highest quality.About the roleRole SummaryThis role will focus on VCSE groups and organisations based, and deliveringservices, in Farnworth. The Farnworth Board are coordinating a proposal to thegovernment for a Pride in Place investment into Farnworth which will include thesetting up of a grants programme, the Farnworth Fund. This will involvesupporting groups to apply for the new Farnworth Fund and working with thosegroups to ensure they are fully funding ready. It will include strengtheninggovernance, safeguarding, health and safety, project planning, budgeting,recruiting and managing volunteers through both 1-to-1 and group sessions.You will also actively support organisations to secure additional external grantfunding from other sources and work closely with unsuccessful applicants toidentify alternative funding streams. The role will also involve nurturing new collaborations between existing and newgroups to help build a stronger and more connected local VCSE sector. You willbe meeting groups face to face out in the community, in The Bolton Hub andonline. Typical advice and support would include, but is not limited to,safeguarding, governance, volunteering, being ready for funding andmeasuring impact. You do not need to be a specialist in each of these areas asyou will be working closely with established members of the team to furtherdevelop your skills, knowledge and understanding. Having an understandingand/or first-hand experience of working or volunteering in the VCSE sector isimportant. Build meaningful relationships so that you can understand the needs anddynamics of the groups and make sure that we give the right support at theright time.Promote the services, training and opportunities provided by Bolton CVS (andother partners as appropriate) and know when to involve your colleagues inproviding that support.Contribute to developing and delivering the Bolton CVS training programme,ensuring that it is appropriate for the needs of the sector now and into thefutureAttend and contribute to meetings, sharing knowledge, skills, information andideas, and make the most of every opportunity to network and connect withstakeholders. Your knowledge of the sector and relationships with VCSE sector groups andorganisations will help to keep us informed of issues which may influence andshape Bolton CVS’ offer. About the roleWe're looking for someone who:Understands the strengths and value of Bolton’s incredible VCSE sector, as welltheir needs and the challenges they often face. Will be passionate about, and dedication to, supporting a thriving andsustainable VCSE sector. Working closely with other members of the Bolton CVS team, you will furtherdevelop your skills and understanding of key topics relevant to the sector.Having an existing foundational understanding of these would be beneficial. Will be committed to your own professional development and growth to gainnew skills and knowledge and understand the importance of workingcollaboratively as part of a growing and progressive organisation. Has the confidence to deal with challenging situations whilst always ensuringthat the best advice and support is provided.
