Recovery and Connect Worker

£24,570 + £500 home worker supplement per annum

Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Home Based

Many people are experiencing mental health issues and urgently need support. That’s where our new service and you come in. Join Manchester Pathways as a Recovery and Connect Worker and you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals access the support services and opportunities they need to improve their quality of life and ensure that their mental health is improving.

The Manchester Pathways Team work across Manchester to facilitate patient discharge from acute mental health wards and step-down units/supported accommodations. We do this by offering up to twelve weeks of floating support to clients who are moving back into the community where we provide support with mental health, housing, benefits, debts, and finances. We also provide weekly informal drop in sessions across a number of acute mental health wards to support clients with practical barriers to their discharge. Recovery Worker caseload would be maximum of ten floating support clients plus any informal clients they have been engaging with on the wards or community drop in’s.

Typical working hours are Monday to Friday 9AM – 5PM but we ask workers to be flexible in their approach in line with the service user’s needs. The role is mainly remote working with workers having the option to work from home whilst also having a base that can be used. Workers would be expected to travel to client’s locations across Manchester, whether that be hospitals/step down units/supported accommodations. A mobile phone and laptop would be provided for this work along with support from Service Manager and Senior Practitioner.

Your challenge will be to support individuals with complex mental health needs to feel in control of their care, access mental health support and other local opportunities and build their emotional resilience. You’ll manage a caseload of individuals with mental health concerns, formulating support plans and establishing positive relationships with a range of multidisciplinary organisations.

You’ll need a significant understanding of mental health issues and substantial experience of working within a mental health setting where you dealt with ‘high risk’ clients and managing resources effectively. A good understanding of recovery and coproduction is important too, as is a proven ability to lead, supervise and motivate staff and delegate work appropriately. Adept at managing conflicting demands and priorities on time, you have a flexible attitude to working hours and, above all, keen to be part of something new and worthwhile that will change lives.

About Us

Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship.

Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.

We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.

Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That’s why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Richmond Fellowship’ or ‘Aquarius’ (our subsidiary charity in the Midlands). Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate.

Thanks for bearing with us – and don’t forget to check out the Waythrough jobs on the Humankind job site https://peoplekind.my.salesforce-sites.com/recruit/
