Job overview

Chief Executive, East Midlands Education Trust

Up to £175k

East Midlands Education Trust is a well-respected, well-run and values-led organisation, responsible for the education of around 13,000 children and young people aged 3-18, and with a turnover of more than £105m. Our 24 schools (all Ofsted Good or better) are located in villages, towns and cities across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and our training provision is thriving. You’ll find a professional and supportive culture, and we’re committed to working with respect, trust, integrity and care.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved to date, and are excited about the next phase of our journey. Trustees have set an ambitious vision of advancing ‘from Good to Great’ in the coming years, and this challenge has energised the whole organisation. We have identified areas where we can transform systems and develop new approaches, and we believe there’s plenty of potential for lasting civic and social impact across the region.

Our new Chief Executive will lead our dedicated and expert team to deliver the brightest possible future for every child, and put our extensive capacity to work in serving our communities. You will be responsible for achieving high standards of education, overseeing excellence across operations and governance, and maintaining our position as an employer of choice. Moreover, you’ll ensure we sustain our impressive reputation, and will lead on planning and implementing a sustainable growth strategy.

Candidates will appreciate both our progress so far, and our significant potential. You must share our values and ethos, and bring a complete professional repertoire, including the strategic and commercial skills required by this senior role. An inspiring and credible system shaper, with the respect of your peers and a strong track record of educational leadership and improvement, you’ll understand how to lead and develop a complex and ambitious organisation.
