Kitchen Porter

We are excited to announce an opening for a Kitchen Porter at Amesbury Prep School. This
role is essential in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and efficiency in our kitchen,
ensuring that our students and staff receive the best possible dining experience.

Amesbury Prep School, nestled in the beautiful countryside near Hindhead, Surrey, is a vibrant
co-educational  preparatory  school  catering  to  approximately  330  children  aged  between  9
months  and  13  years.  Our  school  prides  itself  on  providing  a  friendly  and  inclusive

This is a flexible position with the hours to be discussed / agreed with the successful candidate
and will be a part time role term time only.

Job Description

This is a term time position 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.  This can also be a job share
role.

You will also be required to help with the kitchen deep clean in the first week of the school
holidays, as agreed with the Catering Manager.

Salary: up to £12.21 per hour

Ideal Candidate

The Kitchen Porter plays a crucial role at Amesbury in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen
environment, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and supporting the culinary team in
delivering excellent dining experiences for our students and staff. This position is essential in
upholding the smooth operation of our kitchen and contributing to the overall success of our
school’s dining services. Ideally you will have worked in a kitchen previously; however, this is
not essential.

•  Attention to Detail: Maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
•  Reliable and Punctual: Consistently meets work schedules and deadlines.
•  Physical  Stamina: Capable  of  handling  the  physical  demands  of  the  job,  including

lifting and standing for extended periods.

Specific Responsibilities

•  Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment are
kept clean and in good working order, including removal of rubbish, sweeping and
mopping floors.

•  Washing up: By hand and operating a dishwasher
•  Support to Kitchen Staff: Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation

and other tasks as needed.

•  Waste Management: Properly dispose of kitchen waste and maintain recycling

protocols.

•  Stock Management: Help with the receipt and storage of deliveries, ensuring stock is

rotated and stored correctly.

•  Company Standards: Maintain standards relating to food hygiene, personal hygiene

and appearance.
