Sheffield Women's Aid (SWA) is one of Sheffield's Leading Domestic Abuse Charities. SWA believe that every woman and child has the right to live free from all forms of violence and abuse. We have been providing safety and support to hundreds of women and children since 1974.

As a Domestic Abuse Refuge Practitioner you will be part of the refuge support team, working alongside colleagues to offer practical and emotional support to women and children living in our safe accommodation; helping them to begin to recover from the trauma and abuse they have experienced and move forward in a safe and planned way.

What are we looking for?

An enthusiastic, confident woman looking for a new opportunity in a role that makes a real difference. Who will be able to demonstrate these skills and qualities:

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a public facing role.
  • Experience supporting those living with domestic abuse or similar trauma.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and record keeping skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to use ICT.
  • Experience using Microsoft programs (Word, Excel etc.) and electronic management systems.
  • Willingness to take on further training within your role.
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures and processes (both children and adults).
  • Confidence in both working as part of a team and managing work load alone.
  • Community Language skills.
  • Excellent time and crisis management skills.
  • Knowledge of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
  • Experience delivering group work.

Full Time

37.5 hours ( including shifts Monday to Friday from 08:30 - 16:30 and 11:00 - 19:00).
