Main purpose of role
To plan, design and innovatively deliver the national curriculum focused on the individual (often complex)
needs of the pupil to enable them to effectively access learning

Duties and Responsibilities

▪  To work within guidelines for professional duties, as set out in ‘conditions of Employment of School

Teacher’ pay and conditions document.

▪  To support subject colleagues in the creation and maintenance of subject policy, and to present this at staff

meetings.

▪  To work as an effective member of the community, supporting colleagues and the wider community as and

when required.

▪  To create a safe, caring and happy learning environment for Muntham House School pupils in line with the

school ethos.

▪  Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers and guardians whilst ensuring appropriate

professional boundaries are established and maintained.

▪  To recognise, understand and accept difference in our pupils and build this into your teaching practice to

encourage pupils to embrace and accept difference.

▪  Create and develop learning plans for all pupils, which enables all pupils to access learning within the given

subject.

▪  To deliver and facilitate dynamic, creative, and active lessons that captures pupils’ interest and supports

their learning.

▪  To identify resources required to sustain and embed high quality subject delivery
▪  To take responsibility for tracking pupil progress and for collecting and monitoring data to support teaching

and learning.

▪  To provide accurate and supportive reports on pupil’s progress.
▪  To provide feedback on pupil progress at the end of the year to parents/carers.
▪  To work with colleagues in developing pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
▪  Appropriate utilisation of ready to learn and learning interventions to manage challenging behaviour.
▪  To undertake continuing professional development.
▪  To attend INSET days, training sessions and staff meetings as required.
▪  To undertake tutor group responsibilities, as and when allocated a tutor group.
▪  As a tutor to be responsible for the management of the main file for the young people in the tutor group

alongside the Key Worker

▪  To raise and escalate any safeguarding concerns to the DSL
▪  To represent the school professionally in all aspects of their role both on and off site.
