EXAMS INVIGILATOR

The College is looking to appoint reliable Exam Invigilators to ensure the fair and proper conduct of examinations in an environment that enables our students to perform at their best.

Successful candidates will work on a casual basis assisting the Exams Officer with the administration and supervision of on-site examinations. Responsibilities include ensuring strict compliance will all regulations set by the relevant Exam Boards. Duties may involve acting as a scribe, delivering announcements to large student groups, and providing one-to-one invigilation in smaller exam settings.

Exam Invigilators need to be calm, organised, reliable, punctual, alert and able to deal with a variety of situations. You must be able to relate well to young people.

Experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided and staff may be contacted prior to the exam period to discuss the invigilation schedule in relation to their own availability.

Exam Invigilators are paid a rate of £12.21 per hour (plus statutory holiday pay).

Design and Technology Technician

Plymouth College is seeking a practical and reliable individual to join our Design and Technology department as a Technician. This is a hands-on role supporting the delivery of practical lessons by preparing and maintaining tools, materials, and machinery, and ensuring that teaching spaces are safe, well -stocked, and ready for use.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and students, providing technical assistance during lessons and helping with the day-to-day running of the department. Full training will be provided, including Health and Safety procedures and equipment use.

Design and Technology is taught across Key Stages 2 to 5, so the Technician will support pupils aged 7 to 18. The role involves preparing resources for a wide range of practical activities – from foundational skills in younger year groups to more advanced projects at GCSE and A-level. This variety offers a dynamic working environment and the opportunity to engage with a broad spectrum of creative and technical learning.

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable, and confident working in a busy, practical environment. A background in design, engineering, or experience with tools and machinery would be beneficial, but a willingness to learn and a proactive attitude are equally important.

The position is 28 hours per week worked over 4 days between Monday to Friday. The standard working day is 0845 – 1645, including a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Specific working days will be in agreement with your Line Manager. The role is Term-Time only plus 2 additional weeks to
support key school activities.
