Fleet Officers - Oxford and Cambridge

18 month fixed- term appointments (with the potential of extension)

Salary Range: £35,250 - £40,804 per annum.

These are 2 separate roles - based in our Oxford and Cambridge offices. Please specify in your application your chosen location.

This hands-on, office-based role supports the day-to-day management of a fleet of vans and 4x4 pickups. You’ll ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, and effectively deployed to support field operations. The role blends administrative coordination with practical oversight and contributes to strategic goals including:

  • Enhancing fleet safety and compliance
  • Improving operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making
  • Strengthening vehicle dispatch and utilisation
  • Supporting environmental sustainability initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain fleet records and telematics systems
  • Monitor performance metrics (safety, cost, emissions)
  • Coordinate vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and fuel usage
  • Support driver onboarding, training, and compliance
  • Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and meet regulatory standards
  • Collaborate on weekly deployment planning and vehicle dispatch
  • Promote sustainability and support carbon reduction strategies

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in vehicle fleet management and transport operations
  • Strong mechanical awareness and experience with preventive maintenance practices
  • Competency in using Fleet Management Systems (FMS), telematics, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective communication and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Possession of a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • Interest in or support for electric vehicle (EV) technologies and actions to mitigate carbon emissions
  • Experience in delivering presentations and technical training to small groups
  • Experience working in public sector or non-profit fleet operations

· Competitive, constantly benchmarked, salary range £ 35,250 to £40,804: appointments will be made based on demonstrated ability, previous experience and CIfA membership if appropriate.
