Exhibitions and Programme Assistant 

Location: Somerset Heritage Centre and Trust and partner sites

Hours: 22.22 hours per week

FTE Salary: £23557 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours)

Contract: Permanent

The South West Heritage Trust is seeking an Exhibitions and Programme Assistant to support the development and delivery of the South West Heritage Trust’s ambitious programme of temporary exhibitions and wider public programme.

Operating across six main sites, we deliver a wide range of heritage experiences engaging over 100,000 participants each year.

In this exciting role, you will support development and delivery of an innovative programme of exhibitions at three museums, help coordinate a Trust wide public engagement programme, support the effective management of financial resources and contribute to the development of our knowledge about audiences. You will be based at the Somerset Heritage Centre, Taunton and work across our sites.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organised and focused with excellent attention to detail.

  • Experienced at working in a fast-moving dynamic environment with multi-disciplinary teams and competing priorities.

  • An accomplished administrator with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Passionate about engaging audiences with heritage and culture.

The South West Heritage Trust is an independent charity which provides heritage services across Somerset and Devon. We run two Archive and Local Studies services and three museums, including the Museum of Somerset, and look after Somerset’s historic environment, including over 400 acres of historic landscapes.
