Cookery Skills & Nutrition Manager Reporting to: Head of HR Location: Barnsley and Leeds Salary: £27,367 to £30,420 pro rata (dependant on experience) Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week (Open to flexible working, Full Time/Part Time) Other Benefits: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata), contributory pension scheme, relevant training and PPE provided, hybrid working. The role will: • Coordinate and deliver programmes of cookery classes and training events for charities and organisations plus individuals from our employability programmes. • Liaise with a variety of agencies to establish links and promote the charity. • Work appropriately with people with a range of ages, backgrounds and abilities. • Deliver identified project outputs and outcomes as required by funders and Senior Leadership Team as agreed in the delivery plan co-produced with colleagues. • Ensure that surplus food is at the heart of the skills and knowledge taught and demonstrated, so that key stakeholders become well-adjusted to it’s use. • Work in ways which meet the objectives of the charity’s Vision, Mission and Values. Main Responsibilities/Accountabilities: • Coordinate and deliver interactive cookery classes within The FullCrumb Kitchen in Leeds and Barnsley, • Deliver training at the approved premises of some of our Yorkshire-based partners. • Ensure equipment, resources, learning materials and ingredients are appropriate • to each class. Implement and maintain strict standards of food hygiene and health & safety in the preparation and cooking of food. • Deliver, track and report on both accredited and non-accredited training (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene), maintaining high standards of delivery and record keeping. • Source ingredients internally and through purchase, with surplus food being the priority around which training is shaped. • Support and work with volunteers. • Establish and maintain eaective links with a wide range of agencies and projects across Yorkshire (private, public and third sector partners as relevant to the furthering of the charity’s work) • Work to guidelines from key stakeholders such as Public Health and the Food Standards Agency, keeping up to date with changes in food policy, strategy and dietary advice. • Contribute to the development of The FullCrumb Kitchen • Co-ordinate with and provide input to colleagues across the charity through forums such as our Extended Management Team and All Team meetings. • Support the growth of The FullCrumb Kitchen’s profile, creating engaging content on social media channels which promotes our classes, the use of surplus food and the charity’s impact. • Produce short recipe videos and digital content to showcase the cooking of surplus food, healthy eating and training opportunities. Wider Responsibilities/Accountabilities: • Promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice in line with FareShare Yorkshire’s policies and procedures. • Ensure compliance with policy and procedures concerning the welfare, health and safety of staa and service users within The FullCrumb Kitchen. • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners, attending regular meetings. • Work in accordance with the organisational policies and procedures • Participate in staa reviews, appraisal and personal development. • Undertake further training as required. • Any other duties commensurate with grade and agreed with line manager. Principal Health and Safety Responsibilities: • Compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, with specific responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all people in your care, including yourself. • Ensure the safe and compliant planning, implementation and monitoring of all cookery and training activities. • Report all accidents, incidents and near misses in accordance with our procedures. • Responsible for the implementation of HACCP procedures and liaison with Environmental Health. Essential • Experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering cookery classes / demonstration events for diverse groups. • Demonstrable training experience. • Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards. • Ability to engage and work appropriately with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for reports, publicity materials, and external liaison. • Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle. • Willingness to undergo a DBS check prior to employment and throughout service as required. Desirable • Knowledge or qualification in nutrition and healthy eating guidance. • Experience using a wide range of ingredients creatively and sustainably, preferably surplus. • Experience working with disadvantaged or vulnerable groups in a community or in employability work. • Familiarity with dietary guidelines, public health food policy and current food strategies.
